David Ogden Stiers played Major Charles Emerson Winchester III (1977-1983) on the TV show.

Mr. Ogden Stiers was a wonderful talent. Beyond his work in M*A*S*H, he appeared in two of my favorite science fiction series, "Star Trek: The Next Generation: and "Stargate Atlantis". He played a villain in the latter which, as far as I know, was a departure for him. He was a regular in the "Dead Zone" Tv series and played a great character in an episode of "Frasier". He is missed.
