Yeah. For sure. But that is a Trek thing that's been going on forever. How many friggin half brothers and sisters does Spock have? Picard all of a sudden had a brother and nephew in the movies. Data had a brother yet the movies seemed to totally forget him and Data was shocked to have a brother in the films conveniently forgetting the huge episodes featuring the evil Data. Star Trek II Kirk all of a sudden had another ex-wife and a never-mentioned son. Last night watching Voyager the Doctor made a hologram that was Kardasian despite the fact that half the crew consider them their mortal enemy. Why not just make him a different alien like a Vulcan? Discovery is the biggest breaker of the established Trek history but all the movies and films did it.
Picard all of a sudden had a brother and nephew in the movies.
Not true. He even visited them in S04E02 Family.
Would Pic's brother still even be alive today?
Picard's only family, his brother and nephew, died in a house fire in 2371. In "Star Trek: Picard (2020-)", which takes place in 2399, he has retired on the family estate and vineyard in La Barre, France.

I believe you but I totally don't remember it. Maybe I nodded of on that one. I do remember him having a son but it ended up being not his. But my point is throughout most of Star Trek there were plenty of mistakes in the histories of the characters. It's not a fair criticism of the most recent shows I think. There's plenty to complain about I'll give you that...
It's actually one of the most important Picard episodes on TNG. It is is in the aftermath of Best of Both worlds and him dealing with what happened to him when he was assimilated. He finally has a fight with his brother and a breakdown.

OK. I'll go back and check it out. Thanks for the tip.

Well worth the watch too especially after the 2 parter it really brings out the human side of Picard.
After watching the first four episodes, then RLM's vid, reading the comments, and giving it some thought I decided to cancel my Paramount+ sub just prior to the end of the free trial period. There's a part of me that wishes I could stay on board with Trek, as I adore most of the movies, TOS, and the Berman-era series but the way in which the current franchise is being managed really bothers me. The lack of subtlety, the constant memberberries including the RIDICULOUS callback to the punk rocker on the bus from Trek IV, and the incessant need for mystery boxes and darkness has worn me out.
Everyone is angry, damaged, or both and there's none of the fun and lightness or at least warmth that used to exist in the franchise. Even Guinan, played by an actress that doesn't remotely, resemble Whoopi Goldberg in appearance, mannerism, or cadence, seems angry and impulsive rather than wise and patient. The only relatable character to me is Rios, who is also the only character that feels somewhat light-hearted and clever. (Sadly, he's shoe-horned into an immigration/anti-ICE plot line that's as subtle as a sledgehammer.)
Idk. I'll wait for RLM to sum up the season and if it gets better by the end, when we find out that Jurati is the future Borg Queen and that Q has the Q version of Alzheimer's, maybe I'll create a second account and binge the rest of the season before that trial period ends. Meh.

Yeah so Picard can comfortably be reminded of the place where his brother and nephew horribly burned to death ,nice touch Kurtzman

The part where Steve tried to dismiss valid criticism of STD and STP by stating his ignorance of TNG was quite amusing

when did I ever defend Discovery? Honestly, I agree with you guys on a point and I'm still hammered. Done with this thread.
