But what if Picard IS Trump?
Think about it.
There are a lot of details that can be included, but I'll settle for a rough outline.
Some people claim that Trump turned the wonderful US and federal government that Obama had created, into a cesspool... even before he was sworn into office, really.
But the "Deep State" and such have been around for a long time. FBI misbehavior - including spying on Trump and the Trump campaign - occurred during the Obama administration
On Star Trek, we might find that problems with the Federation/Starfleet in general and with Earth in particular, were developing for a long time. And that Picard's departure from Starfleet was not just from a single out-of-the-blue or out-of-left-field event. Even in the TNG and DS9 series-es, we saw what could be evidence of increasing problems and corruption "back home." For example, in the two-part DS9 episode "Homefront" and "Paradise Lost." Picard has been seeing all of that going on during his lifetime.
Similarly, Trump has been around and involved in business, and somewhat in politics, for a long time too.
So now in Star Trek: Picard, we're going to get Picard rising up to take on the problems back home, etc etc.
Just like Trump.
I await the exploding heads.

When I watch STP I feel like watching Stewart acting like Stewart not like Picard. If that makes any sense I feel like the flame is gone.

Thinking of a crude joke I could make with "onus of communication" Hmmm ? Just rest your OoC somewhere else ? No. Oh well next time then.
Crude joke? You? Surely not. Some people appear to be having problems with the word 'ONUS'. What's the matter Knixon? the word not long enough for you? unlike MISCEGENATION perhaps? " The onus of communication rests on YOU" my man! Let's see if people can find dictionaries in the age of the internet. How do you guys watch PIC? that's show is depicting 24th century tech and you can't handle today's?

Don't bother watching it with episode 3 things really start to get ridiculous it's an odd mix of CSI and Firefly but has very little to do with Star Trek apart from a senior citizen who used to play Picard but has very few similarities with the former apart from drinking Earl Grey(decaf lol) !and saying "engage" I will call him The Actor Formerly Known As Picard(TAFKAP).

" I was looking forward to this series until I heard about Stewart's little rant on how he hates Trump and Brexit and he's going to let everyone know about using this show. No thanks, Sir Patrick, I've have enough of rabid left identity politics. "
Just go watch The Orville guys! Patrick Stewart, Jean-Luc Picard, Gene Roddenberry and almost everyone else connected to Star Trek in front of or behind the camera and the viewers DO NOT SHARE your stupid ideas and feelings. This has been my argument to Nexus, Knixon and other Racists and Sexists who frequent these pages, all along!!! Most creative people see Roddenberry's ST as a VISION of a non judgmental; equitable world where mankind has gone beyond the scourges of racism, sexism and ALL the other isms. You guys LAMENT what you see as the fall of the White Male and his Patriarchal Hegemony. So my solution is simple: watch The Orville instead. It is a reasonable approximation of ST; White Male authority is firmly ensconced in 'it's position of superiority; the aliens (especially those that look least like the white male) are ridiculed and given ALL the worst characteristics of mankind and ALL IS GOOD!

It must be so comforting to know that you have the whole world - the whole universe, really - figured out.

I get the feeling that you @knixon and @Thespear might be each other's mirror universe version.

Maybe so. But in that case, I'm confident that I am in the "real" universe. i.e., the "good" one.
Oduntola/Thespear is welcome to hang out with "Empress Georgieu" and all the rest of that dreck.

Being called a racist and misogynist by somebody defending PICARD a show that shows us that most high ranking officers in Starfleet are women where in the series Starfleet is bad because they are xenophobic, synth phobic isolationists ergo these women are also xenophobic ,synthphobic isolationists who deny helping Picard in helping first Romulan refugees andcthen fonding out about Soji (who will probably turn out to be the "evil" twin and transform her into a Borg queen because that would be so Kurtzman to do)because of Ff-in hubris???.Or show a woman of color stereotypically portrayed as an alcoholic on welfare living trailer trash with a drug addiction????.I do hope you see the irony of your remark.
