No it is a review but it's quite amusing you don't get the pop,Star Trek and nerd culture references. And the manner in which it is written is sarcastic it uses language from teens that like big fight action massive explosion fims like Transformers to illustrate to whom this show tries to cater to.It tries to illustrate the dumbing down Star Trek has gone through under Kurtzman's watch.Funny you don't get that .

Graverobbing fanfamiliar concept=The tendency by the showrunners to randomly and cherry pick ideas,concepts and characters from the old Star Trek series (TOS-ENT)without contemplating whether their presence makes any sense Timeline and canon wise solely based on their familiarity and popularity. It has nothing to do with Picard or ageism.

premonition dreams wedge= premonition dreams that are forced into the story to have a cameo from a previous Star Trek character featuring in this series to appeal to a certain part of the viewers (in this case Data is seen in these dreams to give him some screen time to please Trek fans even though he is not directly part the story).

Jason Bourne=Reference to the Jason Bourne film series featuring Matt Damon movies known for their high paced action and fighting scenes.

Palpatine= Former senator Palpatine in the Star Wars prequel Trilogy who in the end becomes The Emperor in The Original Star Wars Trilogy the one who Luke fights in a duel on board the Death Star MARK II in Return Of The Jedi. the Emperor Darth Vader throws down a shaft. That segment illustrates that the Picard-Dahj story is basically a carbon copy of the Luke Skywalker-Rey (who is Palpatine's granddaughter)story in The Last Jedi .

The Vampire clone= Is a reference that the Remans in Nemesis look quite similar (sticking out front theeth)to the original depiction of vampires in Murnau's Nosferatu played by Max Shreck.Also Tom Hardy's character(Shinzon) is a clone of Picard who suffers from some kind of aging disease because of the sped up cloning process he needs to draw some kind of force from his second in command (The Viceroy played by Ron Perlman)to keep his disease under control like a vampire needs to drink blood not to die.

900 million to make the numbers sound convincing but still a low number considering that the center of the Romulan Empire Romulus only has 900 million inhabitants considering our Earth has 7 billion inhabitants but hey this is what one meant in the past with not sticking to canon it seems they can't even stick to the canon they set up themselves.

Well, Patrick Stewart told us more than a year ago that his new show would be "nothing like "The Next Generation". I am glad it isn't! Uncharacteristically, I did not bother to read ANY MORE of this writer's review because he began to reference the second and third episodes of PIC which he has already seen. This review's inclusion into the board does bring up a pet peeve I have however. Yes, have ANY opinion of PIC you want but why bring it to a board reserved for those who want to critically discuss the show? Yes, criticize PIC, by all means, but do so in a neutral venue or in the show you like. As much as I hate The Orville, I have little desire to go to its board and paste one sided negative reviews of it . I might paste MY OWN views but merely lifting someone else's thoughts WITHOUT ANY COMMENTARY AT ALL ,is lazy and stupid!

As I guessed, PIC will be a more cerebral show than any other Trek exploring desires, motivations, morality and questions of ethics which is fine by me, Picard is the most cerebral ST Captain. It WILL BE 'In Treatment' in the future, more so than 'In Space'. The moral question at the center of PIC is the one Data and the Doctor and 7 of 9 of Voy and other ST creations have faced in ST before: What rights do SENTIENT MANUFACTURED BEINGS and their HYBRIDS have in a world of ORGANICS?. That is fine with me because THAT is the IDEALISM of the original Star Trek. These "SYNTHS" will represent the 'other' which ST has, FROM IT'S ORIGINS, sort to have us consider as we review our own contemporary world. No, these 'strange aliens' will not be the constant butt of puerile jokes or representative of the worst ills of humanity. PIC will force us to consider how humanity will be forced to contemplate the VERY meaning of LIFE ITSELF. Completely STAR TREK and completely UNLIKE The Orville. Are sentient machines ultimately BETTER than humanoids? Will they be encumbered by the same sense of a conscience? Will using them be the equivalent of slavery?

Recent developments in science show that we (humans) CAN create machines with the ability to reproduce. As computer circuitry gets smaller and smaller, we have already seen the introduction of computerized parts in human prosthesis...the reality of bionic humans is now only an matter of time. The lines that separate 'living things' from machines are getting blurred. I strongly urge those who haven't yet, to view the four seasons of the British sci-fi drama 'HUMANS' that recently ended or the Dutch show of the same name. Both are available on Amazon Prime; they both deal with some of the moral questions and themes I think Picard will explore: relevant issues of our future AND our past!

Oh yes, I guess some here will be upset that in the first episode of PIC, Dahj a 140 lb female was able to defeat the bigger male humanoids in combat. It has wounded their sense of male dominance and pride. Good thing Dahj has the right skin pigmentation though eh Nexus? and she is under your acceptable age for females, eh Knixon? Even so, you would STILL prefer to watch Pike and Spock right? Only THEY can have superpowers! See how stupid your views are?

The rights of sentient artificial lifeforms were clearly defined in TNG's The Measure Of A Man concerning Data and some VOY episodes dealing with The Doctor and 7of 9 is human so she has all the rights of humans but hey it kinda shows(again) the level of understanding the writers have of Star Trek. Even in Tuvix we see Janeway dealing with the moral dilemma whether she has to respect Tuvix rights for existing or the individual rights of Neelix and Tuvok. But hey I guess it is hip to pervert established fundamental principles from previous shows so they can shoehorn in their woke agenda nonsense.

One hasn't written anything about Dahj's physical abilities at all one only has mentioned the clunky cringeworthy soap level dialogue between Dahj and her boyfriend.I don't care whether the character is yellow,green,purple, black,blue,female,bi,trans or gender neutral if those lines of dialogue were uttered by a white male they would be equally clunky cringeworthy soap level dialogue.But it kind of shows the almost religious/cultists fanaticism of these SJW's they bring up all these things that weren't even discussed or an issue.But hey I guess it is better than following a guy who lives in the desert and thinks he is the incarnation of Jesus and orders his deciples to murder people to start a racial war.
