The body of high school student Joanna Walewska is discovered by three of her peers. Police initially believe that she may have committed suicide, but they soon find out there is more to the incident.
Police begin to interview students, under the supervision of their principal. They are joined by a psychologist, as they learn more about who Joanna really was.
The mood in the town grows sombre as the investigation begins in earnest, and disrupts some illegal activities. The police begin to suspect the local high school sports teacher, Daniel Poreba.
Pawel continues with his own investigation, with the help of local reporter Lechak, who is providing access to documents. The details of the contraband liquor trade are determined, so the plan can go ahead.
