Discuss The Flash

I haven't watched the finale spoilers so I don't know the answer, but...is Iris dead? I'm using what we saw tonight to try and figure it out. Many people believe Iris is alive and H.R. is dead. But how is that possible when we saw Iris get killed?

Or did we?

I'm on board with this theory. H.R. felt horrible for allowing Savitar to find Iris, so he thought up a plan to die in her place...a plan Barry doesn't know about because he told them to not tell him what they were going to do so Savitar wouldn't know. When Barry was trying to shoot Savitar with the bazooka, H.R. traded places with Iris, and used his face-changing technology that Barry used earlier in the episode to make him look like Iris. Barry doesn't know this, because he wasn't there when the plan was made, so Savitar doesn't know it either. Both Barry and Savitar think Iris is dead, but everyone else knows it's H.R. That's why Tracy got so upset when the bazooka didn't work, because she then knew H.R. was going to die. That's why Joe didn't go hysterical...he knew Iris was OK. It also explains the conversation Cisco had with H.R....about saying he's responsible and he'll hold the fort down and he can be trusted. It was a thank you for what H.R. was going to do...the sacrifice he's going to make...and a forever goodbye.

I don't like this theory at all, because I think H.R. is awesome and I love the character. I cannot stand Iris and would be just fine of she died. The only other person I would be more upset with dying other than H.R. is Joe. He's probably my favorite character. If Joe was gone, this show would tank.

One interesting observation I didn't even make until I read about it after I watched the episode: where the heck was Julian? What was he doing the last time we saw him?

This might be the theory they are going with though the issue i see with this is as someone pointed out above, HR was talking to barry afterwards saying he was sorry and he screwed up..so nah, good theory but unlikely...the most possible outcome is that Iris is DEAD but remember, Iris dying took Barry down the wrong street so to ensure Savitar is never formed, Barry has to accept that Iris is dead, take Yoga or something and when he fully accepts that, Iris will return, why? cause if Savitar is never created, then Iris never gets killed, that is how the season would end ;)

One thing people have pointed out is why Barry didn't just leave Iris with Argus. Power dampeners would have been good against Salavar.

Argus security is a fair point; though de-powered Barry and Cold made short work of that, without killing anyone. I was going to suggest Savitar and Frost might have the same luck, but the tech were Meta-Crisis dapeners, which should have the same affect on Caitlyn. (Wonder why Cisco doesn't install that throughout Star Labs. Isn't it based on his design?)

I was expecting the tech Future Cisco used to prevent Barry from returning to the present would come into play; and that was before we knew Savitar was "Other Barry".

I hope hope hope we dont lose HG. Was it ever proven incorrect that Harry wasnt truly dying? I know it was assumed he did it to guilt Jessie to returning to their Earth together. I'd be happier with a reveal of Tom Cavanagh dying in Barry's arms and they initially assume it's HG then realize it's Harry, since he is possibly terminal anyway.

Yes that same episode

How about when Barry fights Savitar in the future, he doesn't create the time remnants? We know Savitar kills them all except the one that becomes Savitar. So if Barry never creates them, Savitar will never be created.

Yes that same episode

Remind me - what did Harry say. Did he flat out say he was lying> Or did he just let Jessie and others assume he was lying to get her to return to their Earth together.

Google it,i cant remember his exact words

If Harry was dying, he would not force his daughter to stay with him, instead he would allow her to be with Wally..Julian is missing but i assume he will come up with a way to save Snow in the final episode, he wasn't needed in the last episode

How would HR switch places with iris..?i mean Barry and Savitar are both speedsters..and HR isn't..someone would have seen him switch..i mean the amount of time it would take HR to run up change his form and iris run away..that would take some time considering HR was no where in sight.

The only time H.R would have been able to make the switch was after Savitar tossed Iris on the ground. If Barry was the only one who didn't know about the plan, his focus was on catching Savitar with the beam so he wouldn't have noticed and there was sufficient time.

Right!

Ya I have never read the comics and I know sometimes they stray from the comics but in the comics iris does die but not before they get married and have a baby.

I read the comics and like the nods they make to them, but I'm also glad they go their own course as well. Otherwise, we'd know everything that would happen. I consider the TV shows kind of like the Kelvin/Abrams Universe in Star Trek.

Actually the babies came after Iris died. It turned out Iris was actually from the future, sent to live in the past by her parents when she was born or little, or something; and when she was killed, her parents used future tech to resurrect her; or clone her and implant her memories, or something. After Barry went on trial and exonerated for killing Reverse Flash, he traveled to the future to retire and settled down with Iris in the 30th century; where they have a son and daughter, the "tornado twins," Don and Dawn. Don has a son with Meloni Thawne, Bart, who becomes Impulse and later the new Kid Flash (and briefly Flash, before dying and being brought back...) Before the twins are born, Barry died stopping the Anti-Monitor, during Crisis on Infinite Earths.

Ah ic..I hate time travel..too confusing lol
