The was an excellent episode, and Joe, Stein, and Malcolm stole the show. Okay. Barry and Kara were pretty good too. What do y'all think?

I downloaded the album from iTunes last night. It also comes with a PDF booklet with liner notes as you would find in a CD case. It includes the original and alternate version of "Runnin' Home To You," the alternate with guitar instead of piano. Listening it digitally makes me appreciate how awesome their voices are.

It was... okay. A lot of the songs were very cringy. I'm not expecting Rogers & Hammerstein in a CW series, but c'mon. This was no "Once More, With Feeling."
Plus the plot resolution seemed like a cheat. The whole time, the Music Meister told us that they needed to fix things themselves, but in the end, they weren't the ones to fix things. Their boyfriend/girlfriend had to break the rules and fix it magically.

I just don't understand that during the two minutes of "Super Friend," only eight seconds was of Barry in his tux and Kara in her gown. That was the visual of the episode and they only wore them for eight seconds?
The next one needs to be a two hour show with more singing and dancing.

This was, in my opinion, the worst episode of the series so far. The only episode where I have skipped parts(the singing). It might be because I don't like musicals and hate the jazz club thing.

I understand completely. Parts of me wanted to skip it, but I said to myself, "There will be an understandable storyline." My wife doesn't usually watch any of the CW shows, but she enjoyed the musical episode.

My kids don't watch the show but they both watched this one and both loved it. My daughter is a musical theatre student so that makes sense, but my son...he really couldn't care less about musicals and loved it. You never know.

Sorry but this episode was the worst ever. Season 3 has been a big let down. This used to be one of my favorite shows. But now??? Really don't like HR and they ruined Cisco in the first half of this season, turning him into a cry baby. And don't get me started on how much I hate Wally. Please please please bring back Harry. Him and Cisco together are the absolute best. Banish Wally to Earth 2 and cut back on the Barry/Iris love crap fest. I really don't give a rats arse about Savitar, I'm only watching for when Snart returns. At least he was a interesting villain.

I know it's irrelevant to the overall storyline of the episode, but I still want to know what happened after the shootout!

I HATE musical episodes because I feel that it cheapens the show/character into a joke. What is the point, aside from being a filler episode? I never watch them.

Late to the party, I know, but I would add that I agree about there being too few songs; and the plot could have been better developed. They shouldn't have split their focus between the musical storyline and the real world; it divide the time available to flesh out either, leaving less time for both, rather go all in on the premise and resolve it from within.
Lots of good talent, though for some reason Grant's singing voice always stands out as being more obviously dubbed in, in contrast to everyone else. It was like that in season 1 too, when he sang karaoke with Caitlyn; there's a weird dissonant, overly polished sound quality to it.
I disagree; many shows that do a musical episode - albeit not all - tend to use the plot device to resolve a plot, or push it forward in an appreciable way. Xena's first musical episode brought the major conflicts between Xena and Gabriel to ahead, helping to resolve important plot points. The Buffy musical had Giles resolve to leave, Tara learned how Willow wasn't only abusing magic, but in so doing, that abuse was deliberately affecting her; and Buffy revealed that her friends had pulled her out of heaven. It even set the stage for Buffy's downward spiral into depression, manifest in part by her so-called relationship with Spike, the initial spark of which on her side beginning with the conclusion of the musical.
It can be an effective storytelling tool, cutting through a lot of tedious exposition by way of an art form that can more efficiently relay the necessary information quickly, but also tell it with greater emotional resonance.
