Episode 313: Attack on Gorilla City

It's frustrating when Jesse shows up on the scene just to brood around for no discernible reason.

I wish she had a better reason for staying in Earth 1 besides Wally. I get it they like each other, but she has Earth 2 to protect. Does she not have any arch villains on that side? I just feel having 3 speedsters now would be overdoing it, also she was not mentioned on the news reel for the future. Making me think she won't actually stay.

I think they're enamored with one another, but I would think it's way too soon to make this kind of decision, and to be honest, you hit the nail on the head: the security of Earth 2. In addition, I don't think Wally and Jesse have truly cemented their relationship beyond a few eye glances and smiles. It's frustrating that relationships happen all at once instead of maturing over time.

Agreed! With each proclamation, I kept thinking, "really, since when?" Especially when Wally said he wasn't complete with her. confused

I missed the part where Jesse was said to be the only hero on Earth 2.

Might I suggest taking a trip to Youtube to jog you and everyone reading this's memory? This has been building since last season. They had already met each other since's Wally's introduction, and once Wally accepted the death of his mother and stopped being so angry he was more open with everyone and thus her. It was already taking a turn as of the 20th ep I believe when Barry was trying to recreate the particle accelerator incident to regain his powers and both got hit by the explosion.

People don't like them together, fine, I get it, we don't have to like every ship (I damn sure don't like "Olicity"). Its when a dislike of something "affects" the memory that I don't get. Its not out of nowhere, in fact I'd say they spent a considerable amount of time from the second season all the way up to the 4th ep of THIS season before Jesse left. One can admit this and still not like them together as a couple, its ok, I promise. It doesn't cancel out.

To create unnecessary drama.

Okay. I admit that I completely forgot their shipping in the last season. I went to YouTube to check out some of the compilatory videos, and I'm pretty shocked. I had completely forgotten about all the kissing and hanging together. So, was Jesse's brooding as a result of Wally never trying to contact her?

On my part, I had completely forgotten that they had a lot of intimate contact; it didn't have anything to do with not liking them as a couple; however, I still think having three speedsters in one city is a bit much.

No, cause he pointed out neither tried to contact the other. The brooding was actually cause she was scared to get in a legit relationship with him. For all we know, and from the looks of it actually, he will be her first boyfriend (and her his first girlfriend probably) so it was cold feet.

On the one hand I agree, on the other, its kind of a comic staple to have multiple versions of a hero in his/her own comic. CW shows are no different (well Legends doesn't exactly count in this regard). Plus I fully expect even with Jesse committing to live on Earth 1 a reason will come up that she'll have to leave. I don't think they'd kill her, but I don't think this will last either. Its the nature of all the DCCW shows, they keep a rotating cast.

It's such a forced "romance"

When I looked at the videos on YouTube, I think they gave a better picture of their Romance. I am probably going to go back, and watch some of the earlier episodes to see their romance developing. I might not have been paying attention to their romance in season three. When you say the relationship was forced, I'm not sure what that means. I've seen a ton of post where people write that a romance was forced, but it seems like an arbitrary statement. When I watched the compilatory videos surrounding their relationship on Youtube, it seemed natural. Are you able to explain what "Forced Romance" means?

It's the same as all of Kara's romances on Supergirl. They flirt a couple times and then it's head over heels in love and they can't live without each other. With Wally and Jesse, it went from them flirting a couple times and have a little chemistry to the line which he said the latest episode along the lines of, "I'm not complete without you". Which I guess most romances depicted on tv and movies are like that.

All of Kara's romances...the only time that actually happened was the ep where she dated Kat's son, and since it was to jump start her non existent dating life it was actually the point. Before it was a slow burn toward James (dumped hastily 1 or 2 eps into season 2) and the constant bickering between Mon-El that blossomed into something. Like Wally and Jesse they took several episodes to build to both (James over the course of a whole season and Mon-El almost since his introduction).

Wally and Jesse actually went through things together, it wasn't just flirting, there was the coma the speed Wally dealing with his LACK of speed, and so forth.

This^ I've watched the show since the beginning and there was very little buildup to this "endless love" that Wally and Jesse now have for each other. Hell they didn't even show Wally broody over Jesse being gone. They could've shown him asking Cisco to open a breach so he could go visit her or something. Instead we see him flirting with Joe's girlfriend's daughter. And before someone claim that I don't like the ship, I couldn't care less about the ship one way or the other. But I do care about organic storytelling, which this is not. And yes, it's the way most romances depicted on TV is shown.

I think you're right about these build ups, and especially about Wally not seeming to be too interested in hopping over to Earth 2 to check on his girlfriend. These relationships develop into intense relationship in the matter of hours. It's insane. I need some sustenance with these shallow relationships.

Well saying it doesn't make it so. It was built up, it wasn't out of the blue, but if you're looking for season long (not sure what your parameters are for what constitutes organic to you), then no, its not "organic" but its built off of multiple episodes where they did more than just flirt. Ignoring this, yeah it seems like you DON'T like the ship. And since this is now an echo chamber I'll gladly repeat: liking them or not is fine, being purposely disingenuous with established events BECAUSE you don't like them, is.

Ignoring Jesse came on the heels of Wally's mother dying. Ignoring Jesse being a rebellious teenager (even though I think both her and Wally are grown) and Wally (and co.) had a hand in talking sense into her. Ignoring Wally and Jesse spitballing together in Thawne's old secret room on how to take down Zoom. This is the "organic"-ness you're saying didn't happen. His behavior before and after the coma. I typically don't like hand-holding as you could have marched over to Youtube to see this so you wouldn't be talking from a position of willful ignorance (its possible to acknowledge all of this and still prove your case) but on the other hand I don't like liars so here we are.

The only thing I'll say to you is why the hell is the onus completely on Wally when both agreed they didn't visit each other? This is bizarre to me, and it was on-screen no less, not left up to the imagine. But hey like the other person if you want to believe something is one way on-screen evidence to the contrary, have at it.

I think this might be an environmental thing. I've always made my intentions with the ladies known, and pretty much initiated contact. In the back of my mind, I'm like, "If you like her, you better make it known." I'm putting the onus on Wally based on how I was brought up.
