Did anyone else think the whole "Katy quits as a lawyer...so should become the new sheriff?" was an odd and disorienting twist? Like isn't the whole point of Longmire that he is a great cop and a terrible politician? So he just assumes that the best course of action (the only course) would be that his daughter would take his spot? Just such a strange way to handle the changes.

I think his point is that his daughter can learn to be a great cop still without being a politician but have a great knowledge of the law. So she would be better in the same way as her father was as being Sheriff.
