Ammo necessary to kill metal cylons

When the metal cylons boarded Galactica, Lee Adama said only an explosive round would "kill" the metal cylons. However, Sam Anders seems to kill them by shooting them enough times with regular ammo. Who is right?

That's a very good question. On the Original Series they used laser beams. I wonder why this series has gone back to regular bullet firing guns.

Yeah same thing with the battlestars themselves they have canons and rockets and nuclear warheads one would think that having faster than light propulsion would be a bigger engineering challenge than laser weapons?
