I wonder if Frost and Lynch could do a classic "we tricked you all!" and in the final episode Cooper wakes up and the entire season is a dream or nightmare. A lot of the weird imagery in this season is classic dream/nightmare content. I'm sure Lynch was inspired by some of his bad dreams as a child or teenager. He'd probably say "I never had bad dreams!" but I wouldn't believe him. wink

If Lynch did that then he would have to wear a bag over his head whenever he went out in public or risk getting pelted by rotten tomatoes. That trope got burnt out in the 80s with Who Shot JR?

it's a little insulting to even suggest that, honestly.

Believe it or not ...

most viewers who LOVED MULHOLLAND DRIVE also believe that the first 2/3rds of that film are a DREAM with the last part being the REALITY.

But in an interview LYNCH also states that both MD and IE are NOT DREAMS.

It is not a dream PER SE but it is a fantasy concocted by Diane/Betty.

LYNCH says MD is ABOUT the FILM INDUSTRY.

If it's all a FANTASY, how can it be ABOUT the FILM INDUSTRY?

Wouldn't A FANTASY make it more about the MIND of someone than about the business?

My guess is the entire thing is a FILM from start to finish.

That's probably also why we don't see the dance partner when she wins the dance competition.

And it's why the SHADOWS don't match the dancers we see, etc.

If it's a FANTASY, then she could also have INVENTED some good looking guy to help her win it.

But she stands there in the SPOT LIGHT with the people she meets on the plane.

The entire thing is not fantasy. The first half where Diane pictures her as coming to Hollywood all bright-eyed and bushy tailed and Rita needing HER help (as opposed as to the other way around) is a fantasy she concocted to deal with the agony of reality.

Invidia, hun, don't do this to me again! You wanna talk MD lets go to the MD board. grin
