I was enjoying the new season of Twin Peaks up to ep 2 but ep 3 was terrible. I thought it was an insult or parody of Twin Peaks. None of it made any sense and it was just dire. It was self-indulgent nonsense. The beauty of the original season of Twin Peaks was the mystery: Who Killed Laura Palmer. The new season has almost zero mystery. When a character (the one armed man played for some nonsensical reason by Kyle MacLachlan with ridiculous wig) pukes on a carpet and then Agent Cooper arrives and lies next to the puke.. oh man, the show hasn't just jumped the shark, it's jumped the whale too!
It was so bad I've given up on the show. I don't care who the killer is and who is the victim(s) Lynch threw away all the tension in ep 3. As mentioned above, this episode was an insult to the original Twin Peaks and it confirmed what I posted in another thread - I said bringing back Twin Peaks was a bad idea. Sadly, my fears have been realized. I dread to think how awful Blade Runner 2049 will be too.
I'd rate ep 1: 9 out of 10
Ep 2: 8 out of 10
Ep 3: 0 out of 10
Ep 4: Who cares, not watching it!
RIP Twin Peaks: 1990 - 1991.

I'd suggest to go back and watching Season 1.
Lynch already set up the murder and investigation and by episode 2 or 3 we were introduced to a red room with a dancing midget and people talking backwards.
Twin Peaks has always been an absurd play existing within the world of a nightmare. Literally, everything I've seen so far suggests that it's the same with the exception that everything is now playing out on a much larger scale rather than in a contained area.

I rather am looking forward to Lynch's version of Twin Peaks rather than have other directors involved.

Not a troll, merely offering my opinion.
I thought season three would involve some kind of investigation, perhaps the good Dale Cooper back on the FBI force, tracking down Bob or solving a gruesome murder in Twin Peaks. But as of ep 4 we've got this:

Cooper with a tie over his head.
Whatever.
I think Lynch and Frost realize the story had nowhere to go after season two and they're duping all the fans with this season three silly nonsense. Making Cooper some comedy buffoon was a terrible mistake imho.

either you expectations for this series were wrong or you have little to none familiarity with David Lynch. or both. there's not a lot to discuss here.

Because it doesn't automatically meet your assumptive expectations it is crap? To tell you the truth I think it woulda have been crap it was another "who killed Laura Palmer" deal. The killing of Laura Palmer led us to the real meat of the story which is the existence of the Black Lodge and its inhabitants. What the story needs to do now is show who and what it is, how it came to be and how to fight it. Another "who killed" woulda been downright trite. I find it hard to believe you are a real Lynch fan if you think it has been crap so far.

Twin Peaks has always been about absurdity. I don't understand why people are having such a hard time dealing with this.
Cooper has been lost for 25 years with no human interaction whatsoever. It makes sense that his return is not going to involve him having to learn different things. I loved the fact that he didn't have a sip of coffee and have all of his memories such back to him.
The show has gotten me more excited. Albert and Cole have come face to face with Mr. C and know that something is wrong and that he's not the real Cooper. This makes me hopeful that they, along with the woman that they were speaking about will find the real Cooper and bring him back.
The only thing that has me worried was Mike telling Cooper: "Both must die" or something along those lines (which went over my head the first time I watched the episode, I only caught on when reading a review of the episode). Which makes me think that both Cooper and Mr. C will ultimately have to cancel each other out.

Agree with all the comments about TP and absurdity. Hell there are people today who still don't understand the original series. And I believe that's the way Lynch intends them all to be, not just some point A to point B heavy handed story but rather a complex mystery that will take the audience some time to figure out. Of course, that may just be an exaggerated presumption on my part and Lynch may just be a certified madman who doesn't GOS if his stuff makes sense :D.

Do we know this? The show kinda just left us hanging and it did hint that perhaps Cooper had received a memory jolt after tasting the superb golden nectar of the gods which is coffee. Real Coop may be back indeed. Only Part 5 will tell.
He didn't say both must die, he said ONE of you must die. In other words, both versions of Coop cannot exist in our plane of existence.

As big a fan as I am of Lynch, I really surprised myself by never watching the TV show. I disliked the film that was based on it, too.

I honestly think the TV show is probably the weakest project that exists that has his name attached to it but I still like it. To me the film is probably one of Lynch's best work, period.

Thanks for clearing that up. I thought that's what he said but assumed I was mistaken.

Be interesting to see if more people react negatively to Nu-Twin Peaks after episode 5. My gut feeling is this season will alienate some of the core fanbase.
