Initially I was very upset and disappointed because I had high hopes and what we received was not how I envisioned the return. The first episode understandably was setting up the show again, new characters, but it was extremely slow and it felt very self indulgent and over the top. The second episode faired better, especially with the Red Room imagery but something is off. The third episode was probably the worst, with some bad goofy special effects, and still doesn't feel like Twin Peaks. Hell, most of the episodes so far don't even take place in Twin Peaks. To my surprise and my hope, episode four seems to be a return to form and feels most like the Twin Peaks we remember. (side note, Angelo Badalamenti's score is baring registering as there doesn't seem to be any standout music.)

I'm on episode 3 right now. Digging it but it's bound to be different. Really liking Coopers Rain Man act.

I've only seen ep 1 and it felt like Twin Peaks but also felt a lot different! I think that's the way to do the show. Make it different but still feel like Twin Peaks (if that makes any sense!). The worst thing would be for Frost and Lynch to do a near remake of the original season but with older cast members.
I liked how the first episode was not set exclusively in Twin Peaks. The story feels larger in scope and that's a good storytelling device to make the new season feel different to seasons 1 and 2. I guess the evil of Bob will continue in some form so there will be elements of rehash but I feel optimistic Frost and Lynch have enough fresh vision to deliver something different. Fingers crossed! It might be hard to sustain freshness over 18 episodes but let's wait and see...

Well I've waited and seen and I hated ep 3. This is Star Wars The Force Awaken revisited. A foolish creative desire (fuelled by money, I assume Lynch and Frost were well-paid) to revisit the past and it's not good. Who knows, perhaps future episodes will pump up the drama and there will be an actual coherent murder investigation and mystery and Dale Cooper will act like a former FBI agent, and Audrey Horne will smile at him in that seductive way of hers, but you know what, the show lost me in ep 3. I don't mind a bit of self-indulgent narrative but not an entire episode. The scenes with Cooper with no shoes on and in Las Vegas - that is not Twin Peaks. Well, not the Twin Peaks I've waited 26 years to see.
Sorry, Twin Peaks, you should have been left in the past.

It's going to be 18 episodes. Lynch has referred to it as an 18 hour movie. We're basically only halfway through the first act at this point. How could you not like it? All that imagery? Cooper finally being allowed to leave the Red Room but having to go through that purgatory first.

I like those formulaic super hero movies as well. The Marvel variety anyway, Warner/DC has been letting me down non-stop since Nolan exited his Batman franchise.
There are times when it's fun to just sit there and switch of your brain. Not everything needs to be examined under a microscope.

It feels pretty disjointed at the moment for me. But I liked it nontheless. Lot of old characters popping up, felt like cameos (so far). Let's not forget there are 14 more episodes! I get the feeling TP took all the "weird tv" shows of recent years, put them in a pipe and smoked it :)

I found episode three the most creepy and Lynchian of all. I take you didn't watch much from him after the first two seasons of TP.

Exactly this
I am watching and re-watching and thoroughly enjoying it and what I don't understand right now (or if ever) I don't care- I'm loving it. It's some real deep sh it.
