Discuter de The Big Bang Theory

This is similar to the original IMDB thread where I suggested - at least once a week - we take the first 10 songs on an iPod, iPhone, Computer - wherever - and shuffle our tunes - listing the first 10 - no matter how embarrassing. It lasted for a good while. But that takes a bit too much time. So - for this new thread - *Shuffle your songs - look at the first 10 songs listed - and pick the MOST embarrasing guilty pleasure of the bunch. The one you think people would be stunned that you listen too. *

Should be fun. Here's my guilty pleasure Tune for Today!

Dancing in the Sheets - Shalamar

Okay. This one, despite being the Song of the Year in 1981, is still cheesy, and the cheesiest one that popped on my list today.

I still like it though!

Bette Davis Eyes

Here's the cheesiest one on my list today...

Laid Back - White Horse

Voice sounds like BEFORE the Surgeon General's warning.

Yeah. Dick Clark said he got his wish when he finally got to hear her and Rod Stewart sing together.

Here's the tune for today. I'm taking the first dozen tunes and picking the one that would best be categorized as a "Guilty Pleasure". This one definitely qualifies.

She's a Bad Mama Jama - Carl Carlton

Might as well toss in Bonnie Tyler as well

Ok, I have been getting some pretty funky Guilty Pleasure tunes lately. Here's one that popped up today. I think I may have posted this one back in the IMDB days too.

That's Good - Devo

From THE GUESS WHO. When I was young, and I was the youngest by 10 years of 3 kids, I got a lot of hand me downs - and many of those were records. I remember listening to my brother and sister's records - also my parents and even my grandma's. I'd listen to them for hours and hours. From Motown, to The Guess Who, to The Temptations, The Beatles and Rolling Stones, even some Guy Lombardo, Ragtime, and Tommy Dorsey. And also the 'new stuff' of the time. I think this has been lost on the iTunes generation. Many Millennials and Gen Z have grown up after records, tapes, and CD's which got passed around and borrowed. Lost on many of them is musical history. To many of them, if it's not on their iTunes, or they haven't streamed it, it simply doesn't exist. What a shame. It's probably why about 10 years back while watching American Idol and during "Beatles week", most of them didn't even know who The Beatles were - let alone heard their music. And these were aspiring musicians!

I really think a component of this generations unique challenges is a lack of history - of knowing who they are and where they came from. There's no connection to anything pre-2000. They've grown up in a paranoid post-9/11 world - and yes - it's a very different world than the one we all grew up in. I'm not saying "play old music and kids will be fine". But I think if we could get kids to appreciate what came before them just a little bit more, they may have a better outlook on the present, and the future. Who knows...maybe I'm nuts and I just need another cup of coffee.

In any event, this popped up this morning on my music while I was doing my daily morning email, coffee, and fruit. It's a song about Wolfman Jack. My bet is that many people younger than myself don't remember him. He was a cultural icon back in the day.

Clap for the Wolfman - The Guess Who

Nothing guilty here.

My Perogative - Bobby Brown

This one came up. Probably couldn't be on the radio today because it contains "The 'N' word". smh.

This is off what I think is a HIGHLY UNDER-RATED album. "WHENEVER WE WANTED". Check this album out - it's fantastic!

They're So Tough - John Mellencamp

No way to listen to this and not grinning

"Find Your Grail" - Spamalot

Okay - here's today's tune that popped up in my first 10 tunes that I'll call a 'guilty pleasure'.

September - Earth, Wind, and Fire

Classic.

Mine is Christina Aguilera-Infatuation https://youtu.be/JxucPR_wpos

One of her most basic tracks but the Spanish guitar makes the song for me.

There were better songs in my list this morning, but this is a "GUILTY PLEASURES" song thread. So I have to post this one.

Come On Ride The Train - Quad City DJ's

Today's tune...

Rough Boys - Pete Townshend
