Simple questions with not-so-simple answers:
1.Is Penny a nice person?
2.Is Bernie a nice person?
3.Is Amy a nice person?
Note: I don't mean "do they basically have a good heart". I mean, "Are they nice?"
Tangent question (not related to the TBBT girls): Which would you prefer to be around on a daily basis (for example, as a co-worker):
A)An abrupt, sometimes rude person who is genuine
B)A sweet person who you know is fake
Note: "Neither" is not an acceptable answer to this question. If you were forced to choose one, which would it be?

I probably wouldn't call that "sweet" then, just "polite" or "straightforward." Bernadette is "sweet" while spreading rumors that co-workers are pregnant etc.

I can go along with substituting "polite" for "sweet", but not "straightforward". To me, straightforwardness involves being truthful/direct/real, and the phrase "A straightforward person who you know is fake" doesn't work.
But yes, I'm all for people being polite.
For example: Kernixon, would you please pass the Grey Poupon?" (pinky up)

"...a good heart...." inside and out.
In a building of 700+ employees (of course, I don't know everyone LikeThat); but, I've only run into one.
Can't know how a person could grow up in this mad-mad-mad world, interact with human beings who would poison their on MeeMaw for a promotion, and STILL stay positive and never say a disparaging word about anyone.

I think the bottom line is that the personality traits we come to appreciate in others are a result of our interactions to-date. We've all become fed up with different things and learned to appreciate different things. I don't think the questions that I asked are ones that have a right and wrong answer. Each person has their own response for their own reasons.

Now for the follow up thread: Are people nicer on Heroin?

I think the problem is, some like to claim they are "honest" , "straightforward" or "no-nonsense" when what they really are is "rude", "obnoxious" or "a douchebag/bytch/arsehole".
I'm a pretty straightforward person, and I swear like a sailor. But I'm also very diplomatic, I can usually see both sides of an argument, and I try to treat people in a pleasant and kind manner. That does not, in my opinion, make me dishonest or fake - it makes me a decent human being. And I think decency is something that should make a comeback.
I also think sideburns, fedoras, and hosiery should make a comeback. And I think wearing flannel pj pants and slippers out in public should go away, as well as wearing tights as pants with short tops, wearing flip-flops anywhere but the beach/pool/boardwalk, letting your children cry/scream/run amok unchecked in public, and allowing pets and children in bars/wineries/breweries.

Well said, Mrs. Gothish. I'm pretty much in agreement with everything you said . I have a deep disdain for people who try to justify rudeness because they're supposedly "straightforward" or "blunt". There's a time and place to be that way, when you're an employer or a parent etc, not just to be a jerk to anyone you interact with under the guise of "bluntness".
Part of human decency is knowing when to hold your tongue.
Also what are your thoughts on people wearing gym attire as regular clothes ? That seems to be the trend in recent years and I never understood it.

Are you counting: getting the morning paper from the walkway as "out in public"? Otherwise, I agree.
As for the other, there are folks who are just blunt-by-nature and whose intent is not to do harm, but to express their opinion. But, yes, you are right, there are folks who hide behind "bluntness" to spew-their-bile; but, don’t think it’s difficult to figure out what they are all about.
I would offer up a separate category for them—but you’d taken all the good ones.

They are all as nice as they can be. Maybe not their whole lives but now they seem swell.
I don't like to be around anyone on a daily basis. As for being genuine. How would I know if it is genuine genuineness or fake genuineness. Or even singer/rapper Genuwine ?

To find out if someone is genuine, scratch them against a piece of porcelain. If they leave a black streak, they are not genuine. They are also not gold.

Also check the tag. Some people have " Genuine leather" on their jacket tags. If they don't be wary.

Good point! That should be step one before you start scratchin' them on things.

Hmm, I can deal with gym attire to a certain extent - it's the obvious pajama pants, and the bedroom slippers, that really tweak me. It just seems so sloppy and lazy, like really, you couldn't throw on a pair of jeans and/or sneakers? I've never been a fan of sweatpants worn out and about, but if I had to choose between the two, I guess they are marginally better than Spongebob flannel pjs. I just can't/won't get on board.
And I will never be ok with these women wearing skin-tight "leggings" as legitimate bottoms. Once they reach a certain thinness in material, they are no longer leggings, they are tights, and they are designed to be worn under something long that hides your butt. It's so sloppy and tacky. I've seen women wearing ones that are so thin you can see their underwear right through - I suppose I should be grateful that they are actually wearing underwear! Not cute ladies.
One day I was sitting on a bench in our local mall, people-watching. The parade of awful fashion choices was so tacky and gross that a person wearing a plain sweatshirt, regular blue jeans and sneakers was a sight for sore eyes.
