Apspriest The Big Bang Theory

Since the IMDB boards went away, I've essentially settled on this place as my forum for entertainment talk. But it's been greatly reduced. The main reason I come here is because it seems the majority of TBBT posters settled here. The other boards however, are nowhere near as active as IMDB used to be. One plus, there's less trolls. One downside is that obscure titles, actors, directors, really don't have any discussions taking place. At one point on IMDB, I was able to directly communicate with one actor, and a writer simply by reaching out to them on their pages (no - I didn't get Cat-fished). But this site has a lot of technology limitations. IMO.

As for other sites, many have suggested Reddit - but the discussions get lost too easily and it's almost TOO much traffic.

The other IMBD replacements I've seen don't even match up to THEMOVIEDB, so I've abandoned those.

Anyone have any sites that are similar to IMDB? To me it seems as though the elimination of IMBD essentially scattered that community all over the net. It's never going to be like it was, and that's a shame.

As a side note - I very rarely ever go to IMDB anymore for anything. I will go to Wikipedia or other sites. I'm just not willing to give them the traffic. Not that one person matters, but I just won't go there other than as a last resort.

Hey Censorship. I have an account on Film boards which is a lot more like IMBD with a lot more posters who were regulars there.

I come here because this board has more familiar people , and I noticed some of my old friends from IMBD occasionally drop in here.

If you haven't already you really should give Reddit a fair shot. It's the only place I Know on the web that has a forum for any and everything . Check out r/television, r/Movies , and r/Detroit Tigers for your sports fix :p

There's forums on politics, food, travel, psychology, fashion, tv, poetry, literature, news anything you can dream of.

It's better than IMBD.

I go on Reddit and it's ok, but I agree with you that it is too big. Posts get lost quickly, especially if they get "downvoted", a feature which I don't like at all. It's supposed to be used to help keep trolls at bay and get unhelpful comments hidden or removed, but people just downvote if they don't agree with your opinion. It's a bad feature which should be retooled or eliminated, IMO.

I like Previously TV a lot more. They basically focus on television, and you can find most shows there. It's easy to follow threads, as posts are kept in order of time posted, not arbitrarily moved around based on the whims of other users. Some of the boards are fairly active, and the moderation is pretty good. I could see that potentially becoming more of a community if we could get more of the regulars over there. It's easy to navigate too.

Edited to add, I NEVER go on IMDB anymore. It's Wikipedia for me! As for this site, it's fun and fairly easy to navigate, I just wish more people made the leap over.

I've seen a few references to IMDB 2.0 (aka IMDB Pro?) that sound like it has message boards, maybe that means they were willing to put in some work to make them functional for a part of the site that has paid admission? That could also make it more immune to (actual) trolls, but not sure if I'd be willing to pay for a short-term membership just to find out.

I have a REDDIT account. I think you can PM there (if you can do it here, it has evaded me to this point). I'll go there this week and check it out again, and also the Film Boards site. Can you send a link to a board you're on? If you don't want to post it here, PM me on Reddit.

Thanks!
