Anyone else think Howard getting a vasectomy is too drastic?

Also I'm surprised they kept the pedo joke in with all the news circling around Hollywood about sexual assault and child abuse. That's pretty tone deaf of them.

And How is Howard who's allergic to peanuts going to eat Kung Pao chicken?

Other than those issues, decent episode.

No. Mr. Lemons had the "BIG V" after we had two kids. However, I'm surprised Howie didn't wait until after baby #2 was born. What if Bernie were to miscarry? Then they couldn't have a 2nd child.

Exactly, you wait until the child's birth. But even then , is surgery really necessary? There are so many birth control options you can't count them. Perhaps they discussed them off screen, but then how do you come to the conclusion that a vasectomy is the best option? IMO that's a last resort.

I the procedure can be reversable but would you really want to go into surgery AGAIN and risk any complications?

Hey Erica. I don't really want to give too much detail on my personal medical/family history that led to our decision for this type of birth control, or the sexual enhancements that resulted from it (and believe me there were some). (I know you didn't ask for that, but I'd have to, to explain why we chose this option.) However, I will give this info if it helps:

A vasectomy is drastic in that it involves a procedure that will end a man's ability to produce children. However, the procedure itself is quite simple in that it is outpatient and the man is awake the whole time. There is about a 48-72 hour recovery period. Have it on a Friday, back to work on Monday. It is also reversible. My brother-in-law, sister and 8 year-old niece are proof of that (long story). Sometimes for a variety of reasons it is the best option, but of course must be considered carefully by each couple with lots of pros and cons weighed.

And I agree with you 100% that Howard and Bernie should have waited until baby #2 was born. It should only be performed when a couple is 100% sure that they will never want to have another baby for any reason.

My brother told me "Some people will say it doesn't hurt that much. They are F----ing lying". Also, my brother-in-law had it, and it was botched and created a great deal of complications. Me? I've never had one and probably won't. But if I do, I'll book it in advance for the most popular time of the year - the day before the NCAA Basketball Tournament. You get snipped, then spend Thursday - Sunday watching college hoops. But you have to book that Wednesday way in advance - as it's seriously the most popular day for Vasectomies all year.

If that's not American I don't what is.

Worse case scenario is you end up watching your team get bounced in the round of 32 with frozen peas on your nads.

Where was Althea ? I was waiting for her to show up in the waiting room. Also slap some green paint on Leonard and he could be the new Hulk. And could someone please give Raj a chair for once or at least a basket and a snake if he keeps sitting on the floor (Howard told me to say that, Bazinga!) .

Those are some good points, Z. Howard's vasectomy would have been the perfect time to bring in Althea. Plus she seems to work in about every medical facility in town.

I also agree with your point on Raj. I thought the same thing to myself on the last episode- why does he still have to sit on the floor? However, I'm not so sure that a snaked-basket is the best choice. We don't want it escaping and eating the baby who is perpetually stuck in Penny and Leonard's bedroom that no one ever seems to check on.

Not sure about Leonard being the Hulk, though. Most of his sentences are full and robust in nature, and I'm not sure they make hoodies in size a million.

I had to throw this one out to Hulk for a proper answer:

"Lemon make Hulk mad. Hulk talk good. Leonard puny human. Grrrr. " - Da Hulk

Everything seemed to happen too quickly, about the Professor Proton thing. We know that only a couple days passed because of Howard's surgery and recovery. How is that long enough to announce the auditions for a new Professor Proton show AND that Wil Wheaton had been cast?

Maybe once they got a "get" such as Wheaton, they weren't interested in looking at anyone else.

Seems more likely they would figure they couldn't do any better for that role. So they would sign him up quick before he changed his mind and they maybe end up with a casting room full of Berts.

In the real world, I don't know that Wheaton as been a "get" for quite a while. That seems to be a recurring theme on the show too, such as him being cast in the sequel to the ape movie with Penny.

"... that which we call a rose...."

As for Wheaton no longer being a "get" in the real world—apples and oranges.

Well for the most part, they seem to be acting like they're in the real world. And in their world too, Wheaton's career hasn't exactly been on fire. And rather than have him live at a house with the address 1701, it might have been more appropriate - and funnier - if he lived at an apartment complex at 1701, in apartment D.

I wish that they would have held out on saying who would be the new PP for a couple more episodes just for some suspense

Yeah, a little suspense would be good. And some reality too. Seems like they want too much to have things like that resolved in a single episode, no matter how unrealistic. Maybe it was all just a way to have Sheldon yell "Wheatonnnnn!!" again.

Wheaton would have little to no scientific or educational credibility to those who care about such things and more importantly would be completely unknown to the young audience of a new Prof Proton show,. What he is known for in the BBT world is his lame podcast with equally niche market guests like Kevin Smith, and his role in a sleezy killer gorilla movie franchise. I would have liked to see a lineup of other contenders. Wheatonnnn!!

Seeing some auditions could have been fun. I guess they just don't have time for that much fun any more, what with all the commercials.

But aside from that, Wheaton is now of an age where he could put on a nice scientist-type portrayal. Especially with the beard etc. He wouldn't be writing the scripts, but really it might be best if they just mostly re-did many of the original PP shows.

Maybe in some future episodes, we'll see the guys watching some of Wil's shows. Unless they cut that too, to run another 30-second commercial each episode.

Dare we posit that "Old" Proton was completely unknown to his young audience when he first started?

Will the, say, average 9-year-old know/care whether the person doing snazzy experiments has a science degree or not?

Be careful what you wish for--be grateful for what you got. As in, we are still waiting for an answer to that "tenure" question.
