Debate The Big Bang Theory

This may sound odd, and I thought it was when I heard it too, but we were at a large gathering a few years back, and one woman (it was actually an older woman - older than me which means OLDER - lol) actually posed the question "Did you actually have sex on your wedding night?"

Now while most who were willing to answer the question said YES, I was taken aback at how many people actually said NO. And yes, more than a couple people were 'off-put' by the question. But since this woman persisted - a quite interesting discussion sprung from it.

So, since weddings are all the rage here this season and with some posters, I thought I'd pose it here.

Us? Yes, we did. We actually didn't go to a hotel on our wedding night - but to my/our condo. We left for our honeymoon trip 36 hours later. We were exhausted - but still young enough to 'consummate' the evening. Actually a great night from 1am - 3:30am. The thing we were most tired for was a scheduled brunch the next morning at 11am to open gifts. That morning was probably one of the hardest ones to ever get up and get going.

I thought we might get some honest answers here on this admittingly odd topic, since we really don't personally know each other in 'the real world'.

"Craziest place was not with my wife. Much younger. In a school gymnasium. They had all those foam landing mats stacked up in the corner of the gym. Me and my girlfriend at the time made a little 'barricade' while everyone else was playing basketball and such. We did it back there. Didn't get caught! lol"

In school? You are BOLD. I was never brave enough to attempt that but I remember in High school during fire drills certain couples would strategically disappear to the parking lot and come back after lunch.

I also remember when I was on the baseball team in HS they organized trips after the season was over for the girl's team and boy's team to go on a trip together. Only the coaches who were "chaperones" didn't really care what happened on said trip.

Just imagine: a group of hormonal teenage athletes on a out of state trip together with little to no supervision. It was like the Olympic village.

Yeah we had this big camping trip in 6th grade and all the chaperones went to sleep early and all the boys and girls got together. i mean we were only in 6th grade, no ones going to get laid, but it was huge grope fest lol. this one brunette Tracy from a different school was all on me and I was totally infatuated and in love with her. but this was the late 80's when there was no social media or even cell phones or email so we lost touch. i still think about her to this day!

You might not have been able to keep in contact then, but they might be on Facebook etc now. Most likely too late to do anything about it even if you wanted to, and she wanted to. But it could be interesting to catch up. My mother actually found a "girl" (not "girl" any more, of course) on Facebook that I fooled around with when I was 10 and she was 12. (And that wasn't late 80s, that was late 60s. But people from that time get on FB too!) A few times her older sister - 14 probably - joined in too. I didn't think Mom knew much about what really went on, at least sometimes. But something about her wording in the email I got from her about finding Terry on FB, suggests that maybe she knew more than she let on at the time. I'm glad parents back then didn't make a big stink about such things.

I'm friends with a TON of people on Facebook that I hadn't seen since the 80's and 90's. But be careful. That can lead to trouble. I know of a few friends who have ended up cheating with 'lost loves' they found on FB after 20-30 years. Not for those with little self control.

Well here's the thing.....this is why movies like Stand By Me, The Sandlot, and tv shows like The Wonder Years have such a profound connection and nostalgia for us, because they were all based in the era before social media and all the modern gadgets we use today. So back then on those shows and movies if you were in love, summer fling, teen romance, you could very well lose touch very easily, unless you thankfully randomly bumped into each other at the local mall.

All of the girls I was head over heels over never went to my school. We had some of the most homely looking chicks at my school. So I would only date girls from other towns other schools. So the 10, 20 reunion wouldn't even work for me.

If you never got to see that girl again at the local mall, then that was it! No more chances.

If I were very interested in re-finding someone who went to a different school, I would have gotten in touch with that school's reunion committee etc, to find out if they had registered to attend. But I've never gone to any of my own school's reunions.

Thats true now that we are all adults but being 12 to 16 in the late 80's to early 90's, this wouldn't help until you were at least 28. So if you are 28 hunting down some big summer fling when you were 12 she's going to be either really impressed that you put in all that effort to show up at a school reunion that you didn't even attend, or she will be utterly scared LOL.

16 YEARS LATER! Thats either the plot to Serendipity or a restraining order LOL

Well maybe. But the chances of anything actually happening were very small anyway. Sometimes it may be more important to just see that someone you were attracted to got dumpy or something, and so you can feel fortunate that it didn't happen in front of you. grinning

Fortunately for me, in a way, the high school I went to had about 2,000 students, about 700 in each grade. There was a much better variety of attractive girls than it sounds like you had.

Where did you live at? I lived in the midwest suburbs in the early 90's the grunge scene was really big so all the chicks had dirty unwashed hair, no make up, and wore baggy flannel shirts. my school in particular was even worse we had a bunch of wannabe hippies who wanted to copy their parents so they would wear tie dye shirts, no showers, no make up, didn't shave their legs, arm pits, or trim their eye brows. it was pretty disgusting , hence why i would only go after and date girls from other schools and closer to the city.

I did meet a guy who transferred from her school to mine so I told him to bring his yearbook and he did and I saw a picture of her a few years later and she was smoking hot! Hot brunette, gorgeous face, smoking body. I wonder what she looks like today?

It was the 70s, I guess nobody wanted to be retro hippies yet, that soon.

The 70's was a groovy time to be alive lol. I think I would have loved to be a kid in the 70's with all the great music, fashion and harmless fun. Minus the racism of course!

What part of the country? Im assuming you are in the USA right?

Uh, I was a kid in the 70's. I wouldn't say we had great "fashion". lol

What's the specific racism you are referring to that doesn't exist today? Segregation of almost every type was gone. I think you might be thinking of the 50's or 60's when it comes to that. Yeah, there was some overt racism like "A black man can't play QB", and you wouldn't be publicly shamed for using a racial slur. Mainly because there wasn't an internet/social media for you to be publicly called out for that offense. But for the most part, the last great legal struggles for race took place in the 50's and 60's.

I love the 70's fashion in particular the pimp leather jackets with the big collars LOL. I love 70's music as well.

Yeah I was not suggesting that the 70's was the most racist decade as that of course wouldn't even be able to be proven but yes generally speaking as each decade came more and more improvements and progress. Not to say today we are anywhere near perfect, especially with you know who in office, but I won't even let this convo go that route.

Here our convo inspired me to start this new topic on The Wonder Years thread! Please take a look and share everyone if you can relate! https://www.themoviedb.org/tv/4500-the-wonder-years/discuss/5a13c9a8925141364f000c96

Facts - including various numbers - indicate that race relations got worse under the first (half-)black president. Including black unemployment, black family income, etc.

So you weren't a fan of Obama? Please tell me you aren't a Trump Fan.

Not a fan, no. I voted for Ted Cruz, and then I voted for the Republican nominee because Hillary - or Bernie or anyone else the Dems put up - would have been a disaster. Economically and other ways too.

When you get right down to it, Neil Gorsuch alone is ample justification.
