I thought I would hate it and I was right. There just isn't enough material for humor present in Sheldon's childhood to make a show about it and it be funny. This feels more like a drama posing as a comedy. I don't think it will last more than a season.

And yeah, I'm coming to this conclusion off the pilot. Honestly ,I can't imagine how this got green lit.

No Einstein, sure. But I just don't picture that guy even getting drunk enough to pick a fight with a cactus.

And not that it really happened, even, but like you said, if we're seeing things as Sheldon remembered them, not necessarily as they really happened, then his dad has to pick a fight with a cactus. Because Sheldon told Leonard it happened.

Patience grasshopper. We done only seen one episode so far.

You know what really wouldn't surprise me? If they come back Nov 2 with a different actor playing the father.

Keep in mind the same actor played Jimmy Speckerman, and did a good job of playing him as a drunken fool towards the end of that episode.

But I wasn't expecting Speckerman to pick a fight with a cactus either.

I b'lieve you'd pick a fight with a cactus, Kernixon. cactus stuck_out_tongue

wow so many haters

Please. It's so cliche for people to call anyone and everyone that doesn't like a show or has a negative review to be a "Hater". Buy a thesaurus. That phrase is so over-used.

To me, the Young Sheldon might possibly ruin OLD Sheldon. There's only so much of that character I can take. As an adult, he's quirky. As a smart mouthed kid, he's even more obnoxious than he is in TBBT.

I'll watch one more episode (In November of all times), but unless it knocks my socks off, Young Sheldon won't be welcomed into our living room beyond that.

Here's the bottom line, I laughed one time in 30 minutes. That' s not good enough.

Other things - why in the hell did CBS debut it tonight, but it's not airing again until NOVEMBER? Who's running that network? That makes ZERO sense.

Also, if there was ever a show that needed a laugh track, it's YOUNG SHELDON.

It felt awkward, and forced. And a nearly 90 year old Bob Newhart with dyed hair was absurd. He looked like a Walker from TWD.

You made me grin .

You gave it a thumbsdown_tone1--but, you are peeved that the wait time before the next episode is so long!?

I didn't say I was peeved that the wait time is so long. You said that. I questioned the wisdom of CBS airing the Pilot episode in September, and not airing another episode for close to 2 months. I can both simultaneously not enjoy the pilot, and question the logic of CBS's odd programming strategy.

I didn't say that. I asked a question.

Very well. In any event, I think I answered it. wink

Waiting so long for episode 2 was probably a mistake. The first episode was cute and kinda enjoyable, but the second wasn't worth the wait.

Watched Episode 2 tonight. So far, YOUNG SHELDON isn't cutting the mustard.

That show has zero entertainment value. It's really shocking that they thought a pseudo comedy-drama would be as popular just because it had "Sheldon " in the title.

And even if they were going for that "Goldbergs" and "The Middle" lover demographic they should have known those shows have a proper retro feel and wry humor that actually works.

I enjoyed the first episode as just a one-off kind of thing. But episode 2 was boring, and I have no interest in seeing any more.
