The finale was weak, I think most people will agree. But people often dismiss the 9th season all together and assume Seinfeld got bad near the end, but it didn't.
Season 9 had the following.
Festivus, The human fund, the bookstore red flag, the frogger machine, Merv Griffin set, serenity now, Mr. Kruger, hello la la la, turkey Kramer - hey buddy! Elaine pretending to be some random kids Nana.
Plus more, those are just off the top of my head.
This show ended stronger than it started, somehing that is incredibly rare in TV.

It's too bad there was never an episode of life in prison or if they had changed after being released.

I guess the episode on Curb could answer how they turned out. Sort of a reunion anyway.

I still don't understand how they were in jail the entire time... no bail? And the season did have great moments but it was easily the weakest of all the seasons.

Jerry hosted an episode of SNL in early 2000's. they did a skit of him in prison and crossed it over with HBO's Oz....was pretty funny

I enjoyed Season 9. How are you supposed to end a show that is famous for being a 'show about nothing'? I guess no matter what they did fans were gonna be upset.

I don't get why they went to prison in the first place. I know they could be mean and nasty, but nothing worth going to prison for.

If I had written the finale, it would have ended with them going to jail too. I found that episode cathartic. Do you remember the episode when George's girlfriend died from licking those old, poisonous wedding invitations? That episode upset me so badly that I quit watching the show until the series finale. I remember saying, "George's cheapness has finally killed somebody, and I'm done with the show." All of them going to jail was sweet justice to me.

They only wrote it that way because they didn't vibe with Susan's actor. It was hard to work with her so they killed her character off.

Season 9 is pretty good but the Frogger episode, Maid Episode, and Peurto Rican Day episode are hard for me to digest. The maid episode is the worst of the worst IMO. Dunno, I just don't feel that episode much. Altho one of my favorite aspects of season 9 is when Pennypacker, Art VanDelay and Kel Varnsen finally meet. That was a glorious, glorious moment in TV.
Varnsen: Who's watching the factory? The SAAB factory!?
Pennypacker (breaks character because he's a dum-dum): .... Jerry that's in Sweden...

@skribb
I actually did know about this. I saw an interview about it where they were saying her style of acting didn't mesh with the rest of the cast or something like that.

yep thats correct. so despite this you projected it onto the in-universe George? now THATS immersion!
i think it was a shame susan died, i liked her personality on the show. woulda been funny to see them be a married couple on the show. but that would, of course, ruin the character of george had he become full-time "relationship george" upon the collision of his two worlds. independent george would have been no more.

Come now - Susan had to die otherwise we wouldn't have got that hilarious scene when he called Marisa Tomei back up looking for a date now that he was single again 😂
One of George's "finest" moments...

@skribb I think it was a case of immersion to say the least. I had been rooting for her the entire time, and wanted the wedding to happen. I was in a comfortable place with their relationship. In fact, I recall tuning in just to see how the relationship was progressing when I watched the show. Their relationship was some of the most watchable moments on the show for me. Now, I knew George was the cheapest man on the planet, but it floored me when his cheapness killed Susan. It was like sliding across sandpaper for me. It snatched me out of the comedy, and I quit watching the show. Even when I saw the interview about why they let Susan go, it didn't restore my interest in the show. I tuned in for the series finale, and I think I might have been one of the only few that rejoiced when they ALL went to jail.

Yeah it is quite of a bummer.
