Discuss Dragon Ball

I think there are still problems with the naming of episodes and seasons.

To my knowledge https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Dragon_Ball_episodes is the most accurate list.

At tmdb season 7 starts with:

1 Episode 1 October 14, 1987

We don't have an overview translated in English. Help us expand our database by adding one.

2 Rivals and Arrivals October 21, 1987

As Master Roshi and the rest of the gang head for the World Martial Arts Tournament, one member is noticeably...

Quite suspicious to have an episode one with no content. Maybe because all is named incorrectly?

According to the Wikipedia article "Which Way to Papaya Island?" is episode one of season 7. In tmdb this is tracked as s6e16. So looking at season 6 it has 16 episodes VS 14 episodes according to wiki. Oh my..

There seem to by quite some inconsistency here. Anybody care to help me unravel it?

The wiki article seems to be right and looking at airing dates it also makes much more sense.

Have you seen the german list of episodes group?

Yes. Looks like the German Wiki grouping of episodes.

Hey guys! I started fixing Dragon Ball and because of the huuuge mess that are seasons 2-5, I figured it would be much easier to start from scratch here: https://www.themoviedb.org/tv/12609-dragon-ball/season/1 So far I only added the Japanese/English/French translations, moved the English backdrops and fixed the episode groups.

If any of you has a little bit of time and motivation, I could really use some help moving the remaining translations: German, Portuguese (BR) & Spanish (ES). Just make sure they match the Japanese data. I'll try to do whatever's left tonight. muscle

Thanks! I'll add the german translations to those season 1 episodes now. Will you remove those other seasons?

Thanks @D4ddy-LiLd4rk. I just finished moving the data and I removed all the extra seasons/episodes. nerd

A few quick notes about editing anime:

arrow_right Ignore the sagas/arcs/DVD releases/local TV broadcast. Ignore the season splits used by Wiki, IMDb, TVDB and the other databases. The seasons should follow the original Japanese broadcast.

For series that should be merged into a single season, our priority should be to have all the episodes in the right order. Moving all the data ourselves is too much work, Travis can figure out how to merge them later. smile_cat

arrow_right New episode translations have to match all the previously added translations! One of the main reason why Dragon Ball was so messy is a few contributors added mismatching translations.

For example, episode 2x10 was originally created as "Monster Beast Giran" (Episode 23) and five different contributors added good translations. But then, one contributor decided to (incorrectly) change the English translation to Five Murasakis (Episode 38) and other contributors added incorrect data (translations, images, external IDs) based on the new edits. Then another contributor (incorrectly) added a different translation corresponding to episode 53. I understand that the data was really confusing, but it should never have happened. And it's one of the less confusing episode. speak_no_evil

arrow_right I strongly recommend making sure the data is fixed (original airing order + season split + matching translations) before creating episode groups. And, to be safe, it might be a good idea to ask the mods to confirm and lock the data.
