After the original 26 episodes of Magilla Gorilla aired during its 1964-1965 syndication run, ABC picked up the series in 1966 and began airing reruns of the 31 episodes, which includes the 5 additional episodes specifically produced for ABC.
The show then aired as part of ABC's Saturday morning lineup from 1966 to 1967, before being moved to Sunday mornings during the 1967-1968 season.
In order to maintain a consistent schedule and keep the show fresh, ABC aired all 31 episodes, combining reruns of the original 26 episodes with the 5 new episodes produced specifically for the network. These episodes were spread out over the course of the following year.
The new episodes made for ABC were a small batch of content to provide fresh material after the syndication run, but the majority of what aired during this period were reruns. So, throughout the ABC run, viewers saw a mix of reruns from the original syndication season and a few new episodes, until the show wrapped up its airing in the late 1960s.
