I'm excited about the announcement that Big Brother will be doing a special celebrity season this winter. This is something I've been hoping they do in the US for a while. It may work. It may not. But I think it's worth the try.

U know what? I've been thinking for a while that they should do it but after thinking how it'll realistically go...nah they should stick with non celebs. You know that A-Listers won't do it; they're either too busy or consider this career suicide.
I'm thinking most of the celebs will be in the CBS universe. You'll get someone from Big Bang and other shows, maybe some from the soaps, who knows maybe Sharon will join, or Aisha since she's no longer doing The Talk. Maybe a Victoria Secret model since the fashion show is usually on CBS in the holiday season. Some star who had its heyday in decades ago. Some athlete and come reality stars to round it out.
What's your dream cast? Mine would include Kathy Griffin, Charlamagne, Kendall Jenner, Ryan Lochte, and Marilu Henner.

Well yeah they're definitely not gonna get A-listers, but I still think it's possible for them to put together a good group. Some people who I would be interested in seeing that I think could realistically appear are...
Charlie Sheen
Jon Cryer
Neil Patrick Harris (he's supposedly a fan)
Mike Myers
Dana Carvey
Chris Kattan
David Spade
Tim Meadows
Daryl Hammond
(Any SNL alums really would be great)
Dennis Rodman
Megan Fox (most likely a reach)
Ashley Benson
Jennifer Carpenter
Jill Wagner
Jennie Garth
Tori Spelling
Shannen Doherty
Tyra Banks
I hope they continue doing the non-celeb version during the summer. But if the first incarnation of BB Celebrity works this Winter I hope they continue doing it as a spinoff.

I'm fearing this celeb version will kill the non-celeb version much like it did with the Apprentice. Speaking of this show, what will be the prize?

True
I hadn't even thought about this is what had happened until you said it.
Probably
for their favorite charities?

Yeah most likely. Honestly I think you have a point, @Poetist . But who knows, maybe not. Aren't they still doing regular BB as well as the celebrity version overseas?
How bout this, a mix of celebs and vets. BB All-Starts vs Real Stars. Celeb wins they're money goes to charity. All Star wins they keep the money. As Josh, "Heh, Heh?!?!"
@TheBayHarborButcher I see you have a bit of 90s nostalgia. Lol. I'm not mad. I think if you cut out some and replace with some youngins it'll be an interesting cast.

That's not true for DWTS, but I can totally see it going to charities. Personally, I rather it just be a non-charity game, because I don't want to hear it's for my charity.

I doubt it. The non-celebrity version is a series CBS really likes. I just read an interview with Julie Chen where she said her husband, the head of CBS, said that BB keeps their network afloat during the summer. So as long as the non-celeb version continues to rate well I think CBS will stick with it.
I think the main reason why CBS is attempting a celeb version is because they've struggled creating other successful competition reality series. The Hunted failed last winter and The Amazing Race has been losing steam ratings wise. Survivor and BB are the shows they've had the most success with in this genre, so with the celebrity edition I believe they are just trying to expand on their success with BB. Also, Survivor does two cycles a year, so I don't think there is a reason why BB can't either.
Ultimately I hope the non celeb version stays a success and the celeb version becomes a success. This way we can continue to get both.

Networks don't always create shows. It wasn't long ago, that they only bought shows. Now, that there is network ownership, things have changed, and they own most of their shows. However, they don't own them all. So, they can always shop around to find something that is already conceptualized opposed to creating their own. Of course, ownership is better than renting air space for shows, which seems to be a thing of the past.
What I fear is that Celeb BB will split the rating and leave BB w/less than stellar ratings. I don't see it happening on the first go around, but I can see one of those wearing out their welcome.
Me too.

You mean besides that tacky ass trophy? 😂 I think @Poetist is right, there is money and the longer you stay the more you get but i don't know if the money goes to charity or they get to keep the money.

On DWTS, they get money every week they remain on the show. The amount you get is determined by how great your agent is, and the winner walks away with a bonus check. There isn't anything given to charity.

Here's the rumor list of celebs. Let me just say that one that was on my wish list is on this list, and there is one that I KNEW they would put on this list.
Here's the link.

"According to Celebrity Dirty Laundry, the “#Celebrity Big Brother” cast will allegedly include several reality stars. The list includes Tiffany Pollard (VH1’s “Flavor of Love”), Drita D’avanzo (“Mob Wives”), Natalie Nunn (“Bad Girls Club Season 4”), and Duane “Dog” Chapman (“Dog the Bounty Hunter).
In addition, YouTube star Bradtheladlong has reportedly been named for the CBS celebrity-themed spin-off. And, with the most famous name on the list, NSYNC singer Lance Bass is also rumored to be joining the “Celebrity Big Brother” cast."
Natalie Nunn- drama and delusions of grandeur.
Drita D’avanzo- more drama and delusions of grandeur.
