I'd say this is the most sensible query:

https://api.themoviedb.org/3/discover/movie?api_key=###&release_date.gte=2017-03-15&release_date.lte=2017-04-06&with_release_type=3&region=US&sort_by=popularity.desc

I'm just filtering it based on the last few weeks. What about that query isn't doing what you expect? It's using:

• release_date.gte
• release_date.lte
• with_release_type
• region
• sort_by

What does the release-type field do? What are the different types of release?

Release types are.. the types of releases:

1. Premiere
2. Theatrical (limited)
3. Theatrical
4. Digital
5. Physical
6. TV

if I remember correctly, don't think I'm missing one, but Digital/Physical could be switched. You'd have to check the release date type field for a movie in edit mode, haha!

Thanks for the response. I think you're basically right -- What I'm trying to get is a little fuzzier than something that can easily translate. I guess what I'm looking for is "Movies that got wide theatrical release", and the problem comes from that being subjective. Simple vote count filters in discover don't do it either, I think, because as a for-instance, there's an Adam Sandler flick slated for release in the next couple weeks that has 0 votes currently...

I'll ponder some more.
