Had to repost these gems. All of them are from Bosslogic's account who has such a keen eye and talent for this kind of stuff. There is a capture of emotion and tone skill set there that I haven't seen often. So, very nicely done mate! Also, it's pretty cool to see what I would look like as Super Mario, Solid Snake and Geralt!!

He was my first meeting. I didn’t have writers or scripts yet – just a greenlight and a lot of passion. That was four months ago, and I’ve never forgotten the passion he brought. He IS Geralt. He always has been. I’m so thrilled to welcome HENRY CAVILL to the #Witcher family.

Tomek Bagiński and Sophie Holland may be the reason fewer subs watched S03p2.

Talking about jeopardizing your livelihood. Subs may not watch any projects that has one of those two.

Subs were angry with the showrunner and writers. Those two idiots kept talking and the anger shifted. People don’t like to be manipulated and they certainly don’t want to be called dumb… or want to read you imply they’re dumb.

TW disappeared from the GWT-10 after seven full weeks and part one’s 4-day OW.

I am always the first to champion diversity in all its glory.

This old hag doesn’t care about diversity. She just gets off when people think she does. Idiots like this is the reason audiences are fed up with diversity. What her selfish arse is doing is force diversity. Just checking boxes, fill quotas. This dumbarse fool didn’t change any beauty standard. She just cast people for a big portion of the TW audience to tear apart online. Maybe she gets off when she reads all those awful comments.

This old hag is so horny to be considered diversity champion that she doesn’t realize that the reason that her diverse cast won’t be accepted has almost nothing to do with beauty standard. Therefore, it won’t change what people consider the beauty standard. The diverse cast is torn apart, because they don’t fit the description in the book. If the book describes Sophie as a short, pudgy, young woman with very pale skin and a face not considered pretty by many, you can bet your worthless arse that the book geeks will criticize you from London to Tokyo if you cast Zendaya to play Sophie. She’s tall, skinny with a caramel skin and a face considered pretty by many. WTH will you say? You’re challenging ugly standards?

I really hate that dumbarse fools like these have turned diversity into a hated topic, have ruined IP’s with forced diversity and are putting miscast actors and actresses through hell just to make their worthless selfish arses feel better. Diversity champion, my arse.

I feel like we need to challenge what people think of as the standard of beauty.

Call AC ugly without calling her ugly.

Only actresses should challenge beauty standards. Let’s choose a very gorgeous actor who’s the male beauty standard to carry the show while we experiment with the actresses. Insert HC.

Exactly.

BTW, are you sure it’s OK for non-Americans to use those words? American geeks call each other all kinds of things. Non-Americans should be careful.

You’re probably right. But I didn’t feel like editing anything. I just re-posted it here. Who reads this board?

And you could have updated the numbers.

I had to have fun with what Tomek Bagiński said. This may only happen once in my life time. laughing

Anyway, I’ll updated the numbers tomorrow.

There isn’t much going on, but you all found a lot to talk about.

A lot is just nonsense for fun.

Tomek Bagiński and Sophie Holland may be the reason fewer subs watched S03p2.

Normally, I’d say that dumbarse fools like those two should stop talking. This time, I wanted them to keep talking. laughing

  1. We consider each season of a series and each film on their own, so you might see both Stranger Things seasons 2 and 3 in the Top 10.
  2. Some TV shows have multiple premiere dates, whether weekly or in parts, and therefore the runtime increases over time. For the weekly lists, we show the views based on the total hours viewed during the week divided by the total runtime available at the end of the week.

Bad News Won't Leave Henry Cavill Alone as The Witcher Boss Confirms Season 3 Sidelined Him for Another Character

While audiences across the world are still coming to terms with the fact that Henry Cavill will appear in his last season as Geralt of Rivia in The Witcher, information from executive producers Steve Gaub and Tomasz Bagiński hints at a change in the focus of characters which will make Henry Cavill play second fiddle. According to the producers, Freya Allen’s character Ciri will take centerstage in season 3 while Cavill’s Geralt of Rivia and Anya Chalotra’s Yennefer will move to supporting roles.

‘The Witcher’ Season 3 Premiere Sees 15% Decrease Versus Season 2 As Audience Wanes Across First 5 Episodes — Samba TV Report

[Keep in mind that Samba looks at households, not hours viewed. The amount of episodes and the total runtime don’t matter. Episode 1 is considered the premiere.]

The first five episodes of Season 3 hit the streamer on June 29. Since then, 1.1M U.S. households have tuned in to the premiere, according to L+5D data from Samba TV. That’s a fairly strong debut, though it is a 15% decrease compared to the 1.3M U.S. households that tuned in to the Season 2 premiere during the same window.

The Witcher Viewership Wanes Amid Ongoing Backlash Surrounding Henry Cavill's Exit

According to Deadline, numbers for the first five episodes of The Witcher Season 3 are down quite a bit vs. the first five episodes of The Witcher Season 2 in new data shared by Samba TV measurements.

The company has revealed that The Witcher Season 3 Episode 1 secured 1.1 million U.S. households in L+5d data.

That number is down from The Witcher Season 2 Episode 1, which managed 1.3 million U.S. households across the same period.

Interestingly, viewership for the remaining four episodes of Season 3 suggests that audiences may not be sticking with the series. Samba measured that about 893,000 households watched Episode 2, and that shrank to 750,000 for Episode 3. For Episode 4, 602,000 households tuned in, while Episode 5 drew less than half the premiere audience with 505,000 U.S. households.

1.100,000 ep 1
0,893,000 ep 2
0,750,000 ep 3
0,602,000 ep 4
0,505,000 ep 5

According to Samba, all eight episodes of Season 2 drew more than 1M U.S. households during their first week of streaming after they debuted in December 2021. Season 1 of The Witcher remains one of Netflix’s most popular TV seasons of all time.

Samba’s data doesn’t tell the whole viewing story, though it does give a pretty good picture of the series’ performance in its first few days of availability. Samba TV doesn’t measure mobile, however, their sample includes a panel of 3 million terrestrial TVs, weighted to the U.S. Census. By contrast, Samba TV’s panel is nearly 100x larger than Nielsen’s household footprint of 45K homes.

Nielsen has yet to report any data for Season 3 of The Witcher. Netflix reported that the first five episodes drew 15.2M views (73M viewing hours divided by a 4 hour and 49 minute runtime) in its first weekend [Thursday to Sunday] on the platform — which easily catapulted it to No. 1 on the streamer’s Top 10 TV list for the week.

‘The Witcher’ Already Dethroned In Netflix’s Top 10 List By A New Show

At one point it seemed like it could have been Netflix’s answer to Game of Thrones. Now, it’s being displaced after a few days on Netflix’s [USA daily] Top 10 list by a stand-up comedy special. The Witcher is not in a great place.

Yes, it’s true that season 3 of The Witcher did debut at the top of Netflix’s [USA daily] Top 10 list after it launched, but it didn’t even last a full week there [6 days], despite extremely minimal competition. The other top-placing shows on the list have been Suits after a move to Netflix syndication, a documentary about American Gladiators and season 2 of Idiocracy-adjacent series Is It Cake?

Now, The Witcher has been dethroned by Tom Segura: Sledgehammer a one hour comedy special.

Of course, many people are ditching the show because they know it’s about to lose Henry Cavill as Geralt, who will be replaced by Liam Hemsworth in the already-renewed seasons 4 and 5. This led Netflix to produce a hard-to-believe tweet on the official Witcher account which advertised a (fake) ad campaign that reads “Yes, he’s still Geralt in season 3 of The Witcher.”

It’s meant to be a funny joke but it comes off as desperate for viewership, plus it is 100% completely dunking on Liam Hemsworth, the poor guy who didn’t ask for any of this, as acknowledgement from the official account that everyone wants Cavill and no one wants him. I predict viewership for seasons 4 and 5 is going to be disastrous.

It’s really hard to believe how much this show has fallen after a shockingly good debut with high watch numbers and satisfied fans who mostly approved of the series and especially Cavill’s turn as Geralt. Now, mismanagement of Cavill causing him to leave and departures from the source material have turned it into…this. It’s probably one of the biggest mistakes I’ve seen Netflix make.

Season 1 of The Witcher had an inverse critic swing, 68% from critics, okay not great, but a surprisingly good 89% from fans, especially fans who were bound to be more harsh than usual given their connection to the books and video games, and skepticism of the project in general.

Season 2 is where things started to unravel. Despite a very high 95% from critics, fans, along with Henry Cavill it seems, did not appreciate changes from the books, and the score dropped to a 57%.

Now? Season 3, again, is reviewing well with critics at an 85%, but fans are reaching rock bottom. A 33% is one of the lowest audience scores for a major production on Netflix I can remember seeing. We are getting close to Resident Evil 26% territory, which was one of the worst. Even “bad” shows rarely get this low on the audience side.

Usually review bombing can have its roots in racism or sexism for projects like this, but this is not in that realm, and is instead about Netflix fumbling Cavill and causing him to want to leave.

The Witcher Season 3 Suffers Unexpected Ratings Plunge Amid Henry Cavill's Departure

Debuting on June 29, the season's first five episodes landed a modest 49 percent on Rotten Tomatoes. Hopes for a grand second half were dashed when the subsequent episodes, presented on July 27, further declined in ratings. Currently, the season's audience score hovers at a dismal 22 percent.

While Cavill's decision to hang up his Witcher boots undeniably added fuel to the fire, a deeper analysis suggests a myriad of reasons for the audience's dissatisfaction. Rewinding to season two, the warning signs were already there; the Rotten Tomatoes audience score dipped to 56 percent. This was long before whispers of Cavill's departure were in the air, indicating underlying issues with the series.

A common bone of contention among the dedicated fanbase is the series' noticeable shift away from its literary roots. Andrzej Sapkowski's cherished book series laid the groundwork for the world of The Witcher, and many feel that season three has strayed too far from the path. It’s rumored that this very deviation played a pivotal role in Cavill's decision to leave the series.

Additionally, Rotten Tomatoes reviews shed light on another point of concern: the perceived decline in character depth and world-building in the third season.

The Witcher's Score Sinks to an All-Time Low as Season 3 Ends

It always seemed inevitable that Henry Cavill’s exit and the showrunner’s attitude would lead to The Witcher sinking, just…not this low, you know?

The Witcher from Netflix was largely anticipated when it was first announced […]

This picture-perfect scenario quickly fell apart with the first season’s arrival. It was largely stated that Henry Cavill was borderline the only silver lining in the entire show as it deviated horrifically from the source books, made a ton of questionable choices plot-wise and design-wise and turned out to be consumed in an internal conflict.

Fast-forward a few years, and here we are. Henry Cavill left the series after his conflict with the showrunner became absolutely unbearable; the production team kept dressing their medieval fantasy characters in Zara clothes; and The Witcher lost the vast majority of its initial fan base due to constant mistakes and ignorance.

The Witcher's Rotten Tomatoes Woes Will Only Get Worse After Sinking To Shocking 22% Low

When The Witcher season 1 was first released in 2019, it was seen as a success, earning an impressive 89% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes. Although the series wasn't entirely accurate to the source material, its fantasy world had plenty of riveting elements and Henry Cavill's Geralt charmed audiences. Then, The Witcher season 2 saw a stark drop in audience score: 56%. Fans disliked how far the show strayed from Sapkowski's books and the questionable choices it made for beloved characters. Finally, with The Witcher season 3, part 2 finally streaming, the series has reached an abysmal 22%.

The Witcher season 3's Rotten Tomatoes score isn't entirely surprising given the incredible amount of controversy the show has seen in the last year. The first and foremost reason behind this is Henry Cavill's exit from the series.

Furthermore, The Witcher's biggest problem remains its inaccuracy to the books. As the seasons have gone on, the show has moved farther and farther away from the source material, adding new characters and new arcs that don't make sense or counteract what was originally written by Sapkowski.

This old hag doesn’t care about diversity. She just gets off when people think she does. Idiots like this is the reason audiences are fed up with diversity. What her selfish arse is doing is force diversity. Just checking boxes, fill quotas.

Diversity Champion. A white woman eager to give herself a title. If she really cared about diversity and inclusion, she wouldn’t force them down people’s throats. That’s never a good way. People like her may be the reason stupid American politicians are making anti-woke policy. That’s how bad things have gotten.

Before, woke was used when you bend (racebend, gender bend etc.) a character. Now, if a woman gets an important role or there is more than one POC in a film, it will be called woke. Chat boards will be full of anti-woke comments. Go woke, go broke BS.

For some reason, Disney is so woke now. Mermaid and Snow White. I’m not a fan of bending characters. Once in a while would be OK. But bending characters seems to be the norm now. Is like they want to annoy the audiences so they’ll boycott these film. Then they’ll say that having POCs, women etc. as the lead won’t put bums on seats.

We have several spy movies. James Bond, Mission Impossible, Jason Bourne. Why can’t we have several Mermaids? The world has seven seas or seven oceanics. Each can be ruled by a different Mermaid queen. It can’t be so difficult. Why are we so attached to these white stories? They’re fictional characters. Halle Bailey had to go through hell bc Disney wants to be woke, instead of create a new story. It would have been worth it if Mermaid made $1B in the BO like the other adaptations, but it didn’t. Audiences weren’t interested in a racebend Mermaid. So it’s STUCK at $561.2M with a $250M PB (excl. likely a $100M promo budget).

Your example with a made-up character is funny. But you should have used a real TW character in your example. What did the geeks scream when HC was cast.

HENRY CAVILL IS TOO PRETTY TO PLAY GERALT OF RIVIA

  1. Too pretty!
  2. Too young!
  3. Too buffed!

At least the TW geeks don’t care about beauty standards. They just want the characters to look and be as the book describes them. How is G in the books? Game G isn't really pretty.

Use a POC in her stupid challenge of white beauty standard that won’t change a freaking thing. WTH is this crap? Some new variant of white savior BS? Apparently, that clueless old hag bend most of the mage lot. That’s not subtle. This isn’t an original story. The fans of the lore have expectations. You still need them to watch the show. Geeks say the lot looks like Brooklyn NY or ghetto LA. I’m not sure WTH all that means, but it’s not meant as a compliment. You wouldn’t do that to a fantasy set in Africa or Asia. White folks will start screaming why you’re doing that when it’s a fantasy set in Europe. After pissing them off, do you really think they’d be open to different types of beauty? Actually… what is beautiful? Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Beauty is… subjective. But the characters have specific things too. Things like the hair, skin and eye color. If the character is described as the most beautiful woman in the world, you can chose anybody you think is very beautiful. Just don’t expect everybody to agree with you. But if the hair is black, the skin is white and the eyes purple, you don’t have much choice. Whoever you choose should have white skin and wear a black wig and purple contacts.

G is the way he’s described in the books. He has white hair, white skin and cat… or lizard eyes. Why do you respect G’s description but not the other characters? It’s OK when the skin has to be painted white. When the character is just a white person… you will change the skin color.

Just my two cents. rolling_eyes

‘The Witcher’ Creator Andrzej Sapkowski Says Netflix “Never Listened” To His Feedback On Live-Action Series

“When you visited Netflix on the set for The Witcher series, did you give them any feedback?”

To this question, the author first responded by beaming over how “Well, the set was TREMENDOUS, you know, tremendous. Everything, everything,” before returning to the outlet’s main question and admitting that while he had thoughts on the series’ direction, they were ultimately discarded by its production team.

“Maybe I gave them some ideas, but they never listened to me,” he laughed to Cereal Killerz. “It’s normal. ‘Who’s this?’ ‘He’s a writer, he’s nobody.’”

Notably, this is not the first time the storied author has offered such a lukewarm reception to Netflix’s ongoing mess of a television adaptation.

Asked by a fan for his thoughts on the live-action The Witcher series during a recent appearance at the 2023 Taipei International Book Exhibition, Sapkowski unenthusiastically affirmed, “I’ve seen better, I’ve seen worse.”

Further, Sapkowski is far from the only creator to have publicly claimed that Netflix ignored their input when adapting their work.

Speaking to his involvement in Netflix’s ill-fated television disaster during a 2019 interview with Japanese entertainment news outlet Otaquest, Cowboy Bebop creator Shinichirō Watanabe detailed, “I read the initial concept and provided my opinions, but I’m not sure if they will be reflected in the final product.”

Netflix’s disregarding of Watanabe’s feedback would later be confirmed by series lead John Cho, who during an interview with IGN admitted, “We did not communicate [with Watanabe]”.

Likewise, in explaining his exit from the production team for Netflix’s upcoming live-action adaptation of his and Bryan Konietzo’s popular animated series, Avatar: The Last Airbender co-creator Michael Dante DiMartino affirmed, “In a joint announcement for the series, Netflix said that it was committed to honoring our vision for this retelling and to supporting us on creating the series. And we expressed how excited we were for the opportunity to be at the helm. Unfortunately, things did not go as we had hoped.”

His creative partner, Bryan Konietzko, likewise told fans, “When Netflix brought me on board to run this series alongside Mike two years ago, they made a very public promise to support our vision. Unfortunately, there was no follow-through on that promise. Though I got to work with some great individuals, both on Netflix’s side and on our own small development team, the general handling of the project created what I felt was a negative and unsupportive environment.”

“To be clear, this was not a simple matter of us not getting our way,” he added. “Mike and I are collaborative people; we did not need all of the ideas to come from us. As long as we felt those ideas were in line with the spirit and integrity of Avatar, we would have happily embraced them. However, we ultimately came to the belief that we would not be able to meaningfully guide the direction of the series.”

And yet, despite Netflix’s ongoing disrespect of the very creators they source their creative ideas from, their best performing and most widely-enjoyed show in recent memory was One Piece, whose production team broke this trend by actively including series mangaka Eiichiro Oda in every step of its development.

Imagine that.

As of writing, the fourth season of Netflix’s The Witcher has yet to receive a release date or even begin production.

Gamesradar: The Witcher author is a fan of Henry Cavill's portrayal of Geralt – and even imagines the character speaking in Cavill's voice
Andrzej Sapkowski, the author of The Witcher books, has voiced his approval of Henry Cavill's Geralt of Rivia, admitting that he even imagines his protagonist speaking in Cavill's voice.
"There are only letters [in my books]. But then I also saw the series from Netflix and I would say the voice of Cavill, that’s right for me. So my own idea of Geralt’s voice, that would be Cavill," he told German publication Beyond Pixels at Vienna Comic Con (via Redanian Intelligence).

Henry Cavill Left The Witcher at the Perfect Time, Netflix Confirms Liam Hemsworth Joins a Sinking Ship

Netflix’s The Witcher is suffering a major loss in viewership not only after Henry Cavill announced his departure from the franchise but right after Season 1 premiered. While it’s true that the actor’s exit affected the ratings for the third installment, the second season had already shown signs of disinterest from viewers.

With the news of Liam Hemsworth replacing Cavill as Geralt of Rivia, fans are even more turning away from the series.

Netflix recently released its engagement report [...]

As per Netflix’s report, The Witcher’s first season garnered a whopping 72.2 million views. The second installment showed a significant decline with 59.3 million views. The third season only earned 33.4 million views, which also does not come as a surprise anymore.

Henry Cavill leaving the show might have been a good decision after all. With the steady waning of fans’ enthusiasm for the franchise and the actor’s issue with the creative direction, perhaps it is time to give up any hope one may have for the series.

What We Watched: A Netflix Engagement Report

Starting today [12/12/2023] we will publish What We Watched: A Netflix Engagement Report twice a year. This is a comprehensive report of what people watched on Netflix over a six month period1, including:

  1. Hours viewed for every title — original and licensed — watched for over 50,000 hours2;
  2. The premiere date3 for any Netflix TV series or film; and
  3. Whether a title was available globally.

So while this report is broader in scope, the trends reflected in it are very similar to those in the Top 10 lists, including:

  1. The strength of returning favorites like Ginny & Georgia, Alice in Borderland, The Marked Heart, Outer Banks, You, Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story, XO Kitty and film sequels Murder Mystery 2 and Extraction 2;
  2. The popularity of new series like The Night Agent, The Diplomat, Beef, The Glory, Alpha Males, FUBAR and Fake Profile, which generate huge audiences and fandoms;
  3. The size of the audience of our films across every genre including The Mother, Luther: The Fallen Sun, You People, AKA, ¡Que viva México! and Hunger;
  4. The enthusiasm for non-English stories, which generated 30% of all viewing;
  5. The staying power of titles on Netflix, which extends well beyond their premieres. All Quiet on the Western Front, for example, debuted in October 2022 and generated 80M hours viewed between January and June; and
  6. The demand for older, licensed titles, which generates tremendous value for our members and for rights holders.

When reading the report it’s important to remember:

  1. Success on Netflix comes in all shapes and sizes, and is not determined by hours viewed alone. We have enormously successful movies and TV shows with both lower and higher hours viewed. It’s all about whether a movie or TV show thrilled its audience — and the size of that audience relative to the economics of the title; and
  2. To compare between titles it’s best to use our weekly Top 10 and Most Popular lists, which take into account run times and premiere dates.

Top 10 most popular titles in each category, based on views in their first 91 days on Netflix.
