TW adds Vikings VFX supervisor.

They’ve included Vikings visual effects supervisor Julian Parry, Nightflyers art director Chloe Klesta, and Black Sails costume designer Tim Aslam.

Filming will take place this fall in Budapest, Hungary along with possible secondary locations in South Africa and Slovakia.

The role of Ciri specifically caused a bit of backlash last month. Why do you think certain fans reacted that way?

It boils down to a couple things. One, this property has such a passionate fan base. I think any leak at all was going to attract this type of attention, and with any attention comes backlash to that attention. I do think that whatever information is trickling out there, there will be people responding positively to it and people responding negatively to it. I think that’s just part of making a television show, and especially a show this big. In terms of why people responded so strongly, I think the fans really have pictures of these characters in their minds and I don’t blame them for that. I get it. When I read my favorite books I certainly imagine characters a certain way. There’s obviously a couple lines of description of Ciri in the books and people become very enamored with their own vision of it. I think coming in as a writer and saying my vision might look different than yours is scary for fans, but truthfully I don’t think it has to be. One of the things I feel most strongly about is people being afraid that we’re going to strip out the cultural context of The Witcher, to remove its Slavic roots, the very thing people in Poland are proud of. That couldn’t be further from the truth. What I’ve always wanted to do is take these Slavic stories and give them a global audience.

I've said this from the beginning, and have never wavered. I traveled through Poland last spring to soak in the spirit, soul, and sounds of the country, so that I could make sure they're not just represented, but also given their justice and due in the show. It's important to us.

Witcher Author Demands $16M In Royalties From CD Projekt Red Saying He Hasn't Been Fairly Compensated

Sapkowski's lawyers have given CD Projekt Red a legal demand for payment for $16 million (£12.4 million). While the studio says it "legitimately and legally acquired" the rights to use The Witcher's story, Sapkowski insists he's entitled more because of the Polish Act on Copyright and Related Rights. Sapkowski's lawyers say it "may be invoked when the compensation remitted to the author is too low given the benefits obtained in association with the use of that author's work."

Meanwhile, the company said on its website that it was committed to keeping good relations with the authors of works that have inspired its creations. "Consequently, the Board will go to great lengths to ensure amicable resolution of this dispute; however, any such resolution must be respectful of previously expressed intents of both parties, as well as existing contracts," the studio added, also suggesting the $16 million sum is simply too much money.

They shouldn’t have said that if they won’t do it. But tbh, when I picture the characters a certain way, I don’t want them to look too different from my imagination. The characters in TW are white, so let them be white. It’s a Polish book. It may feel weird to have something else.
