This album is EXCEPTIONALLY done. She CONTINUES to get better each era, not many people’s favs can say that. Might this be her magnum opus?

I mean you claimed Jolene was AOTY material too so....

I said it had Grammy potential based on the snippets, the album ended up underwhelming though.

Great album but not blown away by it. Highlights are The Greatest, Venice Bitch, Cinnamon Girl, Love Song, Bartender, Happiness is a butterfly.

How to disappear just became my new fav cry

Omg Bartender!!! This album...different fav every time

Bartender was my initial fave, there’s so many great songs. The title track is incredible.

86 on metacritic. Queen finally getting her rightful critical recognition

I’ve come to accept I’ll never understand the hype for Lana Del Rey and I'm okay with that.

I'm just....not into it. Her albums besides BTD all sound the similar to me. BUT I'm happy for her critical success, and I hope she gets a Grammy this time around.

I have always found Lana to be a bit overrated when it comes to songwriting and underrrated when it comes to singing. While I have thought her melodies were strong, her lyrics could be a bit trite. I do though think she really went all in on the new album and it contains some of her best material to date. I also like the fact that she dropped the image she had for Born to Die, while it was cute and fun, it felt forced. I really enjoy the California 70s coca cola, weed smoking, valley girl asthetic way more LOL.

Btw I woke up in the middle of the night, humming Bartender, I kid you not.

Bar t-t-tender.

Seriously one of the most addicting melodies lol

And it did win a Grammy. I forgot about that.

You can’t deny that Norman F’cking Rockwell is Lana’s most critically acclaimed album and actually has a shot at being nominated at least.

Not AOTY which you claimed it would be nominated for and if I recall you said that based on the album right after it came out not based on snippets. Likely the Grammy awards wouldn't have even bothered nominating Jolene at all had the Super Bowl not polished the turd that was Million Discounts and saved the era.

I mean maybe based on the reviews it's getting. I don't "get her"....like at all though. I see artists getting criticized all the time for not evolving musically, or image-wise but yet Lana Del Taco seems to somehow escape much of that criticism even though everything she does is the fvcking same. Dreary, maudlin, boring, Mad Men-esque, helpless 50's chick waiting for some man to come rescue her.

Tbh I can’t really argue with you about Joanne, it wasn’t garbage but I never listen to it.

Lana defiantly has a distinct aesthetic, if you’re not into it then I guess your just not into it. You can put her entire discography on shuffle and just get lost in it.

I don't think Lizzy is very talented in any area in spite of what her fans insist. I think even lower of the persona that she adopted. I don't think she would have made it without Daddy's money or collagen lips. Just my thoughts...I don't get her appeal at all.

She’s been singing and writing and performing her whole life though, and constantly trying to improve. Maybe she got help, but she definitely has the talent to carry herself.

She also said she wanted a name that sounded as beautiful as the music she wanted to make, the music and everything is still her. Everything she was inspired by comes through in her music, and even if her lyrics aren’t reflective of her personal life, they create a mood, image, and feeling that is so uniquely HER.

But if you’re not feelin it then idk what to tell you.
