It’s crazy to say but music is DEAD. No artistry, no originality, no song of the summer. Wtf is going on?
It's been that for a while and while I am not one to complain all that much about it, I am deeply disturbed by what's happening to music in the past year or two. No originality, no innovation, lazy melodies, trite lyrics. It takes 10 people to come up with 1 song and the reason being that now, they get tons of people in a room to make these songs in the factory, ship it to the pop star who changes a word or two becomes the 11th co-writer re-records it in a 5 minute studio session over already finished song. It's sad.
The radio was on the other day and I did not like a single song that came on. Not 1.
I feel like streaming’s made these new artists even more of a product than ever before and artistry is losing but then I look back at the “glory days” of pop music earlier in the decade and the hits back then were pretty generic as well, we just have a nostalgia attached to them.
This trap/pop/hip-hop mixture is by far the worst trend of the decade though. Even modern rock music is incorporating trap 💀. It’s so sad.

Music from early 2010's was overall very good from a mainstream perspective. It was a lot better than music from early 2000s and I feel more nostalgic to that than I do music early from this decade but the end of this decade is looking grim, maybe the music just represents the political climate in the world, bleak and sad.

Yeah I don’t have much attachment to early 2000s music like I do with the 90s, late 2000s, and early 2010s. Music during both Bush era and now Trump era is super bleak.

Sigrid, Miley, and Carly have released decent music.
Beyonce and Taylor have definitely been underwhelming this time around, I'll give you that.
