It's pretty embarrassing Katy can't outsell or outperform MR in the States though. CTTR hasn't had a discount for a week and it's almost out of the Top 100, while MR is #63 even though it's been out way longer.

Million Flushes needed the Super Bowl and to be discounted for 95% of it's sales to barely outperform CTTR in the US on iTunes but CTTR still won on Billboard. It stayed in the top 10 longer and wasn't down to #30 2 weeks after peaking at #4.

CTTR never reached #1 on iTunes, so perhaps the Super Bowl would've helped that song too
