Serious question. No hater thread.
After Gaga did the Super Bowl nearly three months ago, she scored a Top 5 radio hit with Million Reasons, a Top 10 on the Billboard Hot 100, has the best-selling female single this year, has one of the best-selling albums (Joanne has sold over 1.3 million copies), is regaining radio stations that she lost during ARTPOP, goes Top 10 in Australia and the UK and the general opinion is that she's a gifted and versatile performer.
After Katy did the Super Bowl, all her singles underperformed or downright flopped in America (Birthday, This is How We Do, Rise, Chained to the Rhythm, Bon Appetit) and the general opinion about her is trash.
Why though? Katy's was a vocal disaster but it was a cute show overall. What happened?

I wouldn't say the Super Bowl was solely responsible for Gaga's "resurrection" if you will. I truly think Gaga took Artpop as a teachable lesson. She teams up with Tony Bennet, surrounds herself with a different style of music therefore exposing her to people (the 50 and over crowd) who ordinary wouldn't give her a listen if their lives depended on it and next she jumped on American Horror Story, which, while not groundbreaking, did reconnect her with those who are younger and those who don't follow her and she did pretty decently. She becomes a reliable award show performer garnering good praise. Then Joanne came along and it's the most raw Gaga has ever been - no gimmicks, no bull.
Long story short, Gaga did what any declining artist in her position would do, she listened!
I don't think Katy is capable.

Katy doesn't grow as an artist. She's been trying to recreate Teenage Dream for 7 years now and it'll never work. She also has the personality of a foot, and has no memorable performances or moments in pop culture. Gaga's music is just more interesting, minus Joanne.
