Goede tijden, slechte tijden, also known as GTST, is the longest-running Dutch soap opera, revolving around the lives of the families Alberts, Sanders, De Jong, Van Houten and Bouwhuis. It all takes place in the fictional town of Meerdijk.

Eigen Huis & Tuin is a Dutch television program about do it yourself related topics. It started in 1990 and is broadcast on Saturday evenings on RTL 4. It has about half a million viewers weekly.

RTL Nieuws is a Dutch television news service produced by RTL Nederland. The national and international news service produces 17 bulletins each weekday and six weekend bulletins for RTL4 and RTL7, reaching a total audience of about 1.5 million people. With the evening broadcast sometimes reaching over 2 million viewers.

RTL Nieuws' main competitor is NOS Journaal, broadcast by the Nederlandse Omroep Stichting for public service television and radio. RTL co-operates primarily with the Flemish commercial television channel VTM and RTL Germany for international news coverage.

Baantjer is a Dutch television programme which was broadcast by RTL 4 from 6 October 1995 until 1 December 2006 for a total of 123 episodes in 12 seasons. It stars Piet Römer as Jurriaan 'Jurre' de Cock, a police detective, and Victor Reinier as Dick Vledder, his helper. The series is based on the novels of writer A. C. Baantjer.

In 1999, RTL 4 broadcast the television film Baantjer, de film: De Cock en de wraak zonder einde because of the tenth anniversary of the network.

Gooische Vrouwen is a Dutch comedy-drama series, created by Linda de Mol for her brother John de Mol's TV network Tien in 2005. However, after the show's second season, Tien went bankrupt and Gooische Vrouwen was transferred to RTL4, where it ran for three more seasons until its finale in 2009. After its 42-episode run the show was followed by a theatrically released feature film in 2011. The show chronicles the everyday lives of four female friends living in het Gooi.

Gooische Vrouwen has since been sold to Germany, Belgium, France and Serbia.

Vijf tegen Vijf was a Dutch game show based on the original American format of Family Feud. In the game, two teams consisting of five contestants play against each other and have to answer questions based on surveys taken by random people from Holland. They have to guess which answer was given by most of the people involved in the survey.

It was first aired by the VARA in 1983, and the show was hosted by Willem Ruis. However, the show was cancelled in 1986 because of the death of Willem Ruis. The VARA revived the series in March 1992 with Peter-Jan Rens as the host, but the show went to the commercial channel RTL 4 in 1993, because host Peter-Jan Rens also went to that channel. Later, the show was sponsored by the Lotto. RTL 4 cancelled the program in 1998 because there were problems with the rights for the format.

When the commercial channel Talpa started in 2005, they began airing new episodes of the show. At Talpa, the show was hosted by singer Gordon Heuckeroth from 2005 to 2006, and later in 2006, Winston Gerschtanowitz became the host. In 2008, RTL 5 began airing reruns of the Talpa episodes.

On June 6, 2009, RTL 4 aired a special edition hosted by Carlo Boszhard. In this episode celebrities tried to win as much money as possible for charity.

Dit was het nieuws is a Dutch television program of RTL4, wherein two teams give a satirical account of the previous week's news. The program has the form of a game show in which two teams, each with a team leader and weekly guest, compete against each other. The scoring is not serious; after the first round, for instance, the score is always 4-4.

Koffietijd! is een Nederlands livetelevisieprogramma dat van 1994 tot 2001 werd uitgezonden op RTL 4. Het dagelijkse televisiemagazine, uitgezonden tussen 10.00 en 11.00 uur 's ochtends, werd gepresenteerd door het duo Mireille Bekooij en Hans van Willigenburg. Onder het motto hoe drinkt de koffiegast zijn of haar koffie? was bekend en onbekend Nederland te gast in het veelbekeken praatprogramma.

In het seizoen 2000/2001 worden, als gevolg van een verjongingsdrift, zowel de bekende klassieke Koffietijd!-tune als Bekooij en Van Willigenburg in de rol van presentator vervangen door Sybrand Niessen en Judith de Klijn. In navolging op de verjongingsdrift vallen de kijkcijfers erg tegen en wordt er besloten te stoppen met het programma. In 2006, 2007 en 2008 zijn er wel nog eenmalige speciale afleveringen te zien om de kijkers aan te moedigen geld in te zamelen voor het goede doel.

Vanaf 5 april 2010 is Koffietijd als vanouds weer doordeweeks te zien op RTL 4. Ditmaal met in de presentatie Loretta Schrijver, Quinty Trustfull en Pernille La Lau. Vanaf 25 februari 2012 is het programma ook te zien op de zaterdag. De zaterdaguitzending heeft inmiddels meerdere formats achter zich liggen: een reguliere liveuitzending met uitgaan als onderwerp, een weekcompilatie en presentatrice Loretta die gasten interviewd in de openlucht op telkens een andere locatie of een bepaalde uitgaanstip op locatie laat zien.
