Discuss You Can't Take an Island with You

Item: You Can't Take an Island with You

Language: en-US

Type of Problem: Incorrect_content

Extra Details: Some issues with this entry again. Some parts being locked makes me unable to edit it.

1) Original language of the film is Russian, not Azerbaijani, even though it was produced by Azerbaijanfilm. 2) I believe there's no Azeri dialogue in the film either, might have to double check on that one. 3) It'd be a good idea to make the translated title editable as well, it requires triple dots (...) at the end of the title.

Hi @orkhanruth! Thanks for your report.

1) Original language of the film is Russian, not Azerbaijani, even though it was produced by Azerbaijanfilm.

If it was produced only in Azerbaijan, then Azerbaijani is perfectly fine to be in the Original Movie Language section, for more information about this check our contribution bible, specifically here.

2) I believe there's no Azeri dialogue in the film either, might have to double check on that one.

Are you sure you are checking the original release and not a re-cut, dub or any sort of alternative version? I have no problem to unlock that section just curious. It was very likely locked for a good reason.

Did the English title feature those 'triple dots' when it was distributed internationally?

This was released in Baku, Azerbaijan during the 1980s, when the Russian language was lingua-franca in the city. I know this doesn't make a lot of sense to a foreigner, but this was a common thing in the Soviet Union. The original language of the movie is Russian; all the actors in it speak Russian; it was most definitely released in Russian to all the theatres (in Baku and Moscow); I don't even think there ever was any Azerbaijani dubbing over the Russian audio.

Yes. I haven't seen the entire movie since I don't speak Russian (I can recognize it though, obviously). But I have skimmed through all the rips available on YouTube, I don't think there's any Azerbaijani dialogue.

I don't think this was ever released internationally. But both the Russian and Azeri title has (...) in the end, so I think it makes sense to add it to the translated English title as well. But I'll leave it to your judgement on that one.

These two make totally sense. Changed to Russian, thank you.

As for the International title, I rather not undone another moderator's edit, unless 100% sure. So we'll keep it as it is for now. Thanks for the feedback and all the information provided.
