They're not all Academy Award-winners, or perfect, to be sure, but, either as a kid, or as an adult, I thought these 5-films knocked-it-outta-the-park!! (Any Genre/In Alphabetical Order)

True Romance
This film's sooooooo Rock N' Roll ... but it's the performances (every, single 1 of 'em) that outshine (ooh, accidental Easter egg for me) the uber-violent, horribly-racist (when a scene's arguably the best-acted scene, between 2-masterclass actors, ever & it's not completely ruined by the extreme, overt racism ... well, that just doesn't happen.) My #1, & if you think I'm a lil' nuts putting it #1 ... well ... you ... you're a cantaloupe.

Platoon
On the flip-side of my #2, as a 15-yr-old, this film showed me what "dark side" truly meant. It changed my world view. Fuck Barnes.

Lost in Translation
I think this film's actually the secret prequel to 'Under The Skin'. 😀 For real, though, I've never been able to rightly express in words how this film made me feel. A completely unique emotion brought on by Sophia Coppalla, the city of Tokyo, but, really, mainly from Bill Murray & ScarJo.
