The Purple Rose of Cairo The magic and seductive influence of fantasy in cinema as a way to escape life's darksome and cruel realities, only to discover at the end that these 2 worlds can't coexist. Cecilia's milquetoast personality in a depression era provides the perfect conduit for this futile escape leading nowhere.

Last Year at Marienbad L'année dernière à Marienbad, 1961 , Alan Resnais: One of the best movies of the French golden era of cinema, too complex for the then-times, not a easy linear plot from A to B how the traditional stories develop, character build up, conflict, resolution, if that is your type of movie, steer away from this one, not for you. A series of narratives, nameless characters in a picturesque baroque style chateau, a love story, although not a "story" in the conventional narrative sense, since the fragmented images cannot be scanned chronologically. The "story" is not told rather it is described using a juxtaposition of physical images, I'd say recurring dreams presented to us via images and associations. Source of inspiration for other directors, S. Kubrick, D Lynch, a masterpiece, a must-see.
Movie
May 25, 1961

Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf? My solely opinion, the woman who defined what acting should be, eponymous to the phrase "don't let the audience catch you acting."", she lives fully line by line, moment to moment, until we are drawn into her 'fictional' reality, Elizabeth Taylor delivering a volcanic performance spitting anger , beauty and talent at their best. A dysfunctional marriage haunted by guilt and regrets and sardonic appearances vent out all its inner demons, a Masterpiece, capital M. Superb acting as well by Richard Burton, George Segal and Sandy Dennis.
Movie
June 22, 1966

Blow-Up Michelangelo Antonioni's master piece, a time capsule to the mid 60's swinging London, fashion, art, music, combined in a surreal tale where nothing seems what its is, we are driven by the perceptions of photographer filled with ennui and boredom, and a sultry and fleeting evasive Vanessa Redgrave, who appears and dissapears as if all was an illusion.
Movie
December 18, 1966

Last Night in Soho The psychedelic London swinging mid 60's, with an ostentatious display of horror and homage to fashion and music with a bittersweet felling of nostalgia, last movie of another 60's icon, Diana Rigg, lots of memories come to the minds of all us enamored with the era as we listen to Petula Clarks and Cila Black 60's hits. A psychic bond between two eras 60 years apart. A masterful performance for young rising stars, Thomasin Mackenzie ( from JoJo Rabbit ) and Anya Taylor-Joy
Movie

Stay Psychological thriller by Mark Foster, David lynch style where death, love, afterlife and a strong guilt sentiment and flashbacks are masterfully combined into a visual kaleidoscope that defies reality and continuity, and once again what you see is what is not happening.
