TV Series that I've watched and I'm not looking to see more episodes of a series (rather it's due to cancellation or dislike). I just need this list so that I can remember what I've seen if it pops up on my radar a year from now when I don't have a clue what it's about . . . If you find an acceptable method for not growing old, sick, feeble (especially with a feeble memory) - TAKE IT! What the heck, I'm still smiling and they are still wondering what in the world I have to smile about - keeps 'em on their toes!

2017 Canadian BORL, Ireland, Drama, Crime, Thriller 7/10
Accused and then convicted of murder in 1834, a young Irish immigrant and maid faced life in prison. The conviction was controversial and raised too many questions to be ignored. This was a good limited series and held my attention well.

2019 Amazon Very dark (as in can't see, no light) scenes
The CGI is good, the cinematography (except for these dark scenes that are becoming so popular - blah!) is good and I like the Steampunk theme (Hey Granny! Doing good! tee hee hee!). Although the fantasy component and the story component are weak. The Hollyweird writers make no attempt to disguise the fact that they are using heavy hands to shove their opinions of racism (which most can't accurately define) and immigration down our throats. It's nothing new from Hollyweird, but neither is the story they are reusing - DARN!

Deep Water

This is based upon a couple of decades of murders of gay men in Australia. As of 11 Feb 2020, there's a short video on YouTube called: Deep Water: The Real Story. Watch that before watching the miniseries (4 episodes) just to understand what this is based upon.
I was grateful that this show did not rely upon the constant use of objectionable language nor explicit sex scenes to tell the story. It was heartbreaking, frustrating but very well done.

It's HBO so expect all the obligatory nudity, soft porn, and offensive language. That aside, it's an amusing series that grows to repetitious and tired as the seasons wear on. 8 Seasons, 96 episodes. Once is more than enough, although I did find the ending to be a little intriguing. If they were to offer more episodes, I can't imagine watching them. Good actors and beautiful scenery.

2018 - S02 2020 Mexican horror 5/10
Script was weak and they tried to make up for it with objectionable language. Otherwise, pretty much average horror show. It was unique from US horror in ways that were interesting and entertaining. S02 was even worse than the first. Seems to be written for the pre-teen or just teen crowd except for the language and nudity. I don't care if there is a S03 or not, I won't be watching it.

Set in 1897, Count Dracula is plotting against Victorian London. But is he capable of domination in 2020? This was a very entertaining Dracula miniseries. Just the right mix of comedy, horror, supernatural and drama. Very innovative and refreshing.

Beautiful cinematography, sets, costumes - good entertainment, but it was a little too slow. There was too much time used for people just walking, running or riding from place to place or people staring at each other, without dialogue. The story could have moved forward if not for these time wasters, but it was still a worthwhile watch.

2019 Netflix Limited series (mini) Drama, Crime, Supernatural 7/10
Set in Colombia, 2 police officers go to the jungle to investigate murders, but discover that's not the only mystery. The SFX are well done, but authenticity is the real gem here. This is shot in the jungle with local Indians speaking the local languages. The tribes can be identified by their clothes and/or decorations. I found some of the flashbacks a bit difficult to properly place on the time line, but if I watched carefully I was able to gather enough clues to figure it out. It was absolutely worth the watch.

Not one to share with the grandchildren, true of most HBO films, they do rely heavily upon constant use of sex, nudity and foul language to impress/influence younger folks. Those who actually have their own sex life and make their own choices about substituting actual, meaningful communication for juvenile, offensive language, might choose to watch for the fantasy story, DRAGONS (!!!!), and other monsters.

There is a dark story of madness and revenge revealing itself in a small town, high up in the French Pyrenees. The story has been hidden for years, but Commandant Martin Servaz is determined to bring the truth out. it's a worthwhile watch at least once. Beautiful scenery and good actors.

2007 - 2011 FreeForm Dramedy 7/10 When watching for the second time at the end of 2019, I looked up several of the main cast members and I'm surprised that at least a few of them have not found more work - they did an excellent job in this series and even with my damaged memory, they are memorable and enjoyable. Casey Cartwright is at college to create her legacy by leading her sorority, throwing great parties, having the perfect boyfriend (even if it means forgiving him for cheating on her!) and wearing the best fashions. She is not pleased when her geeky, younger brother, Rusty, shows up and decides that college for him is about changing his lifestyle and losing his virginity. Slowly, their friendship as adult siblings develops and they find they can depend on each other and turn to each other. There is the inevitable changing of boyfriends, girlfriends and best friends as they make their way past scholastic expectations, petty quarrels with housemates and trips home for holidays. This was a good series the first time I watched it, probably based upon my life long desire to continue education, a good story and some equally good laughs. It's not quite as great the second time around or it's something to do with being older, sicker and accepting the fact that I will not go back and become a full-time college student - ever!

Watched the 2 available seasons, don't want to see more. It's not terrible, not good, but would be a waste of my time to watch more seasons. It's very thin on the Fantasy/Sci-Fi that might have held my interest. The shots of Istanbul are BEAUTIFUL & captivating. Best part of the series. The actors are fair, but it might even be cultural for me to find this too slow as an action series (?). S01 was the best and downhill and repetitious from there.

Catherine is a no-nonsense sergeant in Yorkshire Valley. A staged kidnapping spirals out of control and becomes bigger than imagined, but Catherine finds it is closer to home than she knew. Another excellent series from BBC. Really a shame it didn't go longer than 2 seasons!

Twice Upon a Time
2019 French miniseries, Drama, Sci-Fi, fantasy 4/10
After suffering through a breakup, a man discovers a portal that might give him the chance to go back and win his ex permanently. In the first episode, they bounce from scene to scene in an effort to give background on the main characters, but the conversations are too trite to provide much information. The time portal is a wooden box that appears to be bottomless, but when he tries to explain it to a friend, the friend tells him he's losing his mind because he needs to be in therapy. When he tells his ex, Louise, she insists that it's a dream. There's a brief time in Iceland when we're "treated" to a naked guy with a huge belly, but no explanation about the detour from France to Iceland. There seems to be no fear of the paradox that usually plagues time travel because when present day Vincent goes to the past, there is no sighting of the past Vincent, just the present day fellow who is trying to understand it all. It is not entertaining enough for me to finish watching.

Feudal Barons, warriors, martial arts, a young boy with secret skills and lots of back stabbing adventures! I enjoyed watching this, but I also felt that they would lead up to a new story line and then let it drop and lie there. That was frustrating - not enough to stop watching, but enough that I couldn't just give it an 8 out of 10. START S03 E06

3 Seasons of 3 episodes each. Jack Taylor was a cop with the Irish National Police (The Guard), until he was accused of brutality against a government minister. Now he's trying to make it as a private eye, but he's just as stubborn, does not drink any less and has himself as his supervisor! Some of the individual stories are interesting and very well done, but the police work could have used some professional advice and the on again, off again personalities of some characters is annoying. If I had such fickle people in my life, I'd get rid of them or move.

It's a rather typical supernatural show, but I was glad that the episodes were only 20 - 22 minutes long. I enjoyed seeing the scenery from Africa and the actors worked well together. It was an interesting story and seemed to have a lot of potential, but it was never really fleshed out in the 16 episodes and it did end with a cliff-hanger that will never be resolved.
I assume this series was cancelled after S01, but decided to watch it anyway.
I did not rate it on TMDb because the page for this show was incomplete and I really didn't feel like putting the time in for a series that's already cancelled.

Black Money Love

It is hard for me to accurately rate this TV Series that is so popular. This is actually a soap opera which I normally avoid and abhor! However, I'd gotten into watching it and liking many of the characters, enjoying scenery of places I'm not familiar with. The downside to that is the fact, that just like any American soap opera I've seen episodes of - this is overly dramatic, people encounter stupid problems due to lack of communication or miscommunication (just like real life, but it's painful to watch) and it seems the characters take turns on who gets to be the stupidest! I will probably watch all 150+ episodes, but hate myself for it - tee hee hee! Beautiful homes that I'm sure most typical citizens never enter, interesting fashions and jewelry and the scenery is wonderful blue water, great city lights, lush foliage, but it is, at the heart of everything else, a soap opera - blech, I would hate such drama in my own life so it's hard to view as entertaining! Omar, a police officer, and Elif, the middle child of three girls, suffer the murders of loved ones. After the deaths, there are many rumors and gossips run wild. Omar and Elif eventually decide to do whatever is necessary to clear the names of their loved ones and discover who is responsible for their painful losses.

Mix of documentary, set in present day, along with SciFi and Fantasy set in 2033.
Documentary deals with the very real hurdles to overcome obstacles keeping us earth bound and the thinking of those willing to attempt to solve those obstacles. The Sci-Fi/Fantasy/Drama is set in the future at the time of the first manned trip to Mars to begin creating a new home for humans.
Makes me think of all the petty squabbles we face day to day and the not so petty wars, competitions, prejudicial barriers (STILL!), campaigns of hatred and deceit. We have not solved the very real dangers to humans of poverty, starvation, genocide and apathy, just to name a few. However, we'll spend billions?, Trillions? for the opportunity to crash land a few people so far from home or even the possibility of successfully establishing a new home on Mars. I love the idea of space adventure, new planets, exploration, but in every day reality, I'd much sooner support solving the very real problems that harm life - right here, right now. This has a political component - how important, if at all, is it to voters? Check the blog!

This started out okay; I like tongue in cheek humor and second sight line gags, but not a fan of slapstick comedy. It quickly devolved into using sex and language for it's draw. As the journey continues, it's understood that the real danger is not of the unknown, but what's already on the ship with them.

Fighting against the Zika virus are 3 physicians and a faith healer, but this battle is about more than the virus. They were prepared to battle the anti-vax resistance, but they needed a cure for something other than a virus! The dialogue and attitudes of the characters was trite & silly. Even if there is a 3rd season, I'll pass.
